Yes!

Yes, AeMe will be part of Wedge. I said it countless times over at AeMe's official site actually. I said I'd put an end to AeMe for SMF because I was focusing on porting it to Wedge, where it will live a new life and be used in more places than just media galleries. (I know that Pete is quite eager for me to finish the job eheh. Hopefully I'll take my chances and do it next week. I just finished committing my new default theme.)

rev 675
(many files, big size. Didn't check it exactly, as I was busy fighting tree conflicts.)

* Switched Warm for Wine as new default styling. Wine is now a replace type, and Warm is an add type. Removed many useless default props for regular divs. Nested a few more declarations for readability. Got rid of titlebg2, tborder and other useless styles. (styles/*)
+ Added support for the "for" keyword in styling blocks. For instance <block name="cat" for="ie6,ie7"> should generate markup exclusive to IE6 and IE7. (Subs-Cache.php)
* Core Features page should show an underline for active feature links. (admin.css)
* Styling pick page in the profile area could use better header hierarchy. (Themes.template.php)
* Improved board list in Manage Board area, by showing a dotted bottom border instead of a complete solid border. (admin.css)
* IE6 doesn't need PNG fixes for the header area's reddish zones. A simple solid background saves time. (ie6.css)
* Re-implemented PNG fixes for windowbg/windowbg2, though. It's not that slow to apply, and it looks slightly better. Added instructions to disable it if you like. (settings.xml, ie6.css)
! Fixed a very small bright line that always showed up below the main menu in Wine. Finally got the bugger. (ie6.css)
! Fixed various details in the Pastel styling. Still needs a LOT of fixing. (Pastel/ie6.css, Pastel/index.css)
! Fixed double float margin in IE6 for upshrinks. (sections.css)
- Webkit didn't like the catbg/titlebg forced height. (webkit.css)

Wow, pretty stupid.
Maybe it's something that had to be done, I don't know, but BRAGGING about it? What a jerk!

Maybe I could put the link in the AeMe footer.......

Okay, I'll just shut up :P

Okay, I could simply announce the release of Wedge in the AeMe admin area through the "latest news" box... And they can't do anything about it, it's already installed on 10k forums. That's a Trojan horse if I say so myself! :niark:

TE, I thought your picture was Snape from HP! :^^;:

I'll change my avatar on SM.org soon and use the wedge version instead,
That's the spirit! (Plus, I'm jealous of your avatar... :P)

I'm really interested in their responce  ;)
It doesn't link here so I guess they won't say a thing...

Anyway, whether Pete gets banned or not or whatever -- if everyone here starts putting a link to Wedge in their signature, what will they do? Mass bans, like in January?

I think I was doing something like 75% of the beta testing work all by myself for the couple of years I was a tester.
If there's something they're bad at, it's... well, simple math.

So, in conclusion, SMF is dead, and that's why they're preventing you from putting a link to its successor in your signature. I can't help but think it's a bit pathetic. I hope they prove me wrong...

rev 674
(36 files + 4, 71kb - mostly maintenance stuff but might be worth a look, if only at the changelog.)

* Harmonized file endings in the Sources folder, and other very minor spacing or logic changes. Oops, I forgot the closing PHP tag on a few of the classes I created... (Class-CSS.php, Class-JSMin.php, Class-Packer.php, ManageMaintenance.php, ManageMembers.php, ManageNews.php, ManageServer.php, PostModeration.php, PrettyUrls-Filters.php, Profile.php, Security.php, Subs-Captcha.php, Subs-Post.php, Subs-PrettyUrls.php, Subs.php)
* Reduced filesize of Wedge mini-logo and symbol, and moved original 32-bit versions to the other/images folder. (minilogo.png, wedgesight.png, wedgeship.png, minilogo-256.png)
* Every nerd knows that math trumps sex. (index.php, SSI.php)
* Saved a whopping two bytes per page load. What? (index.template.php)
* A detail in the French translation. Details annoy me enough to fix them. (index.french.php)
* Board manager had inverted cat and title header types. (ManageBoards.template.php)
- Removed debug parameter in updateSettings (unused.) (Subs.php)
- We don't see a reason to initialize rand_seed separately with microtime() instead of mt_rand. (Subs.php)
- No need for an extra cookie test when showing the newsfader. (BoardIndex.template.php)
- Removing the ONLY remaining occurrence of the titlebg2 class in Wedge. (Calendar.template.php)
- Removing last occurrences of tborder and bordercolor classes. They're remnants from SMF's Core theme, mainly. Also fixed related indentation. (TEMPLATES: Display, Login, Memberlist, MessageIndex, Packages, PersonalMessage, Profile, Recent, Register, Reminder, SplitTopics, Themes, admin.css)

Hater. :P
Actually you dont hate Apple otherwise you wouldn't have an iPod. You should have settle for a Zune. :P
I hate Safari Mobile. With a revenge.
And that's the only Apple app I'm using. The rest is third-party...
So, yeah, somehow, I hate Apple software. Their hardware is okay but the competition's is, too, from what I heard.
Had someone else released a successful device at the same time, maybe everyone would be developing for the OtherDevice, and iStuff would be seen as overpriced garbage. Now instead, it's seen as overpriced popular garbage, which makes a huge difference. :eheh:

Plugins / Re: Plugin hooks
« on March 31st, 2011, 03:41 PM »
texasman, you can have a signature in this forum, AFAIK.

Regarding your multi-threaded switch modifiability sensors... Wow, what are you on? You've got to share now!
Same as Pete for the rest. You are, after all, free to create your own fork of SMF2 at this point.

Dragooon, hooks aren't a sad practice. They're actually one of the most practical solutions to the problem of customizability... The only point is that we have to be careful how fast execution of empty points is.
Basically, in Wedge, it's as fast as en empty() test. At this rate, we could very well set hooks every other line in the code without it becoming significantly slower. (We will, instead, stick to adding hooks where it seems reasonable enough. We will probably add more hooks during the alpha and beta sessions at the request of modders.)
Now, when it comes to templates, we can do it in two different ways: either regular hooks inside the functions (either at the beginning, or at the end, or both), that's for replacing entire functions, or detecting frequently modified elements and replacing them with generic blocks. (The things like <we:cat> that I implemented a couple of months ago.)

I would guess it has something to do with coding.....
Maybe it's a cultural barrier or something.

"It's simple math" means "It's up to you but it shouldn't be too hard to decide."
That, and the pun on Simple Math / Simple Machines.

Not sure what you mean, just started doing graphics stuff a year ago...
Anyways, i make what i make, some like it some don't, it is what it is, ces't la vie, etc.... LOL!!! ;)
I'm just saying that you don't NEED to make anything for us, we have everything you need and we're happy with everything we have (be it graphics, concepts or code), but if you have something better to suggest we're not going to stop you ;)
The least we could do is listen.

As Pete said.

Alpha and Beta sessions: Wedge license (i.e. current SMF license, + one extra clause for some people)

1.0 Gold: Wedge license, or BSD, or LGPL (depending on feedback, and our own experiences during the alpha/beta, and really the spur of the moment.)

Even if we release 1.0 under the Wedge license, we will still keep considering BSD and LGPL for any further major releases. It is our intention to always keep an eye on a possible BSD/LGPL switch. As long as it's not GPL really. And we'll make sure that any further developers we 'hire' is made aware of the potential license change.

Actually, I have seen more Nao reports lately...
I don't see what you mean. They removed my rights to post in the bug tracker in early November, when they discovered I had moved the SMF copyright link (at noisen.com) from the footer to the Credits page. Which I had done precisely because they'd perm-post-banned me...
It's this silly little game of domination, you know. They liked having me posting bug reports (even long after they perm-banned me), but when they saw I didn't respect them the way they thought they deserved, they deprived themselves from that help. Not that I care... Instead of reporting bugs and fixing them in Wedge at the same time, I just simply fixed them in Wedge.

Seriously, we're not advertising this fact, but SMF still has dozen of unreported bugs that are fixed in Wedge. When it comes to security issues, we try to report them (through Pete), but they don't even care about those...

It's a downward spiral.
