rev 1398
(6 files, 6kb)
! Fixed a logic error when PMs are disabled[1]. (Load.php)
- Comment typo and removing extra unneeded echo's. (ManageBoards.template.php)
* Translation. Hmm, is it me or $helptxt['need_deny_perm'] says something twice differently...? Well, maybe it's needed, for some people the feature may not make sense. ;) (Admin.french.php, Help.french.php, ManageBoards.french.php, ManageSettings.french.php)

Plugins / Re: Another quick plugin
« on February 27th, 2012, 11:34 PM »Actually, no I didn't, I forgot. But there are other reasons to use this rather than pure semantics - most notably, on the iPad, you get a different contextual keyboard to work with.
I debated that last night, and the bottom line is that I don't think it's quite core material. How many forums have you seen that have such a thing?
Because Wedge is not there to 'be a free alternative to paid forum quality'.
Wedge is here to innovate, to do things that other forums don't. Not systematically, but it's nice to have a few ideas from time to time that we know others will start stealing from us. ;)
The way I figure it, it's built and we can use it - and if it later turns out to be popular, we can fold it in to the core reasonably easily.
I've updated the plugin to use an email field, and also to correct the niggly bug. Everything else that could be done at this point is purely cosmetic (like highlighting errors better at the footer of the form) but I'm done for now, heh.
Just kidding eheh. It's not like I'm missing it.

Features / Re: Using HTML5 form inputs
« on February 27th, 2012, 11:31 PM »But all 'int' fields in the admin templates now use type="number" and I've added a few more min/max places locally and I'll commit them shortly.

A chess game?
The first real program I wrote was a chess game. Back in 1988. I'm old ;)

Yup, it's good :)
Opera was the first browser to implement all of these... One of the few areas where Chrome has been playing catchup, and isn't even up to par yet :P
I believe I added 'email' and 'url' input types wherever I could back when I converted the templates to HTML5, but I have to admit I never bothered to deal with number types, because they usually require some attention (boundaries, steps, etc), and are best implemented while writing a feature, not as an after-thought. But it's no reason not to do it, indeed :)

rev 1395
(6 files, 4kb)
! Moved thought list styling to the member page (mainly because it's all about the action buttons, which don't work for guests), fixed thought list to show properly in Firefox (which behaves differently when it comes to positioning a table cell), and fixed opacity transitions everywhere (only Opera would work. Opera rocks. Like Phantom of the Paradise.) (index.css, index.firefox.css, index.ie6/7/8.css, index.member.css)
* Reordered some of the CSS to prevent having to use an !important hint at some point. The main drawback is that graphics may be loaded a bit later, but if it's gzipped, it's pretty much the same. (index.css)
! The category/header font wasn't supported by Firefox 10+. I love it when browsers decide to break websites overnight. (index.css)
! Fixed Save icon showing behind text in thought buttons under IE6. (index.ie6.css)

rev 1394
(2 files, 2kb)
* Added a fixed class to the profile page's gender select box. I think Pete wanted that ;) It required adding support for custom classes in the source file, so I did that. (Profile-Modify.php, Profile.template.php)

To think... Of all the time we could all save when developing Wedge, if there was no such thing as a spam bot or a forum troll... *sob*

Plugins / Re: Another quick plugin
« on February 27th, 2012, 11:19 AM »We will probably see alot of official cleanest plugins from Arantor & the Wedge Teamz.
Pete, is this really plugin material...? Why not core?
Also, did you ensure the input box for e-mails has an email type? I like HTML5 forms :P

Icons? Good idea.
Want to do it? It's easy ;)
Prefer not to say: in 95% of cases it means I'm a woman and I'm taken so don't fuck with me. I'd rather avoid this choice ;)

I don't know. Are there that many people not using JS? And among them -- how many are technical-minded?

Yep... I noticed that and found it funny, but didn't feel like it was worth adding a "Choose your gender" thing because people can choose an empty answer.
Could use a fixed class on it, though. It'd ensure the largest width is used. Would make more sense I guess!

Okay, there's a lot to be said and I'll answer more thoroughly later. Right now I'm in the middle of Dae Jang Geum and the Highest Kitchen Court Lady got elected but the other High Court Ladies went ahead and decided to tell the King's Mother that they won't accept her orders because they're faithful to the rival family of corrupts and the previous Highest Kitchen Court Lady just got a heart attack and the preview showed that she'll be dead by the next episode so the new Highest Kitchen Court Lady won't have any support and I got spoiled and she'll be wrongly accused of treason against the king and she'll be executed so how's her protégée the heroine gonna cope with that, what with being sent in exile or what?[1]
So, now you'll certainly understand that with such shitty soap opera crap, I'm totally hooked and won't look into this all for a while...
No, seriously, it's a great show. It's just that it's on an extremely cheap budget/production values that aren't worthy of the quality of its story. If you ever watched 'Lady Vengeance' (by the director of smash hit Oldboy), they both share the same main actress.
Anyway, jokes aside... What I'm thinking for now, is that I'll be creating extra tables and use these. In the end it's gonna make things easier for everyone, and we'll be able to go for a Google+ experience if need be, with multiple contact lists and such. (I'm thinking, "all contact" could be represented by an ID of '0' in the table. It would save having to manually enter an entry for each contact list. I'll still have to find a way to quickly find your contact lists before I start matching them in the topic_privacy table of course... Headaches ahead, but if the big guys do it, I'll do it too.)
