! Fixed broken page index system in topic merging. I'm not exactly sure why having a board ID in the URL automatically brings out the message index instead of the action page... We should look into this, but this fix is rather elegant anyway. (SplitTopics.php)
! Fixed incorrect topic count calculation in page index system... yeah, in topic merging, how did you guess? This is probably a SMF bug: the count also takes the current topic into account, even though it's never shown in the list, resulting in an empty last page in one case out of 15. (SplitTopics.php)

* A tiny fix for French. Note to self and Pete: seriously, 30+KB is too large for the index language... It should only hold the most commonly used text strings, and certainly not things like a merge topic feature description... If anything, index.english.php should be short and easy to translate, so that we can have obscure translations that deal with at least the most common strings. (index.french.php)
- Removed script remover from pretty URL code -- as far as I know, it's no longer needed. Note to self: if anyone finds a bug related to this, just revert this revision of the file... :) (Subs-Template.php)
+ Added support for 'admin' and 'mod' suffixes in CSS files. For instance, index.admin.css is loaded on all pages for admins (as opposed to 'admin.css' which is loaded on admin pages for everyone). I'm sure it'll end up being useful at some point... (Load.php)
+ Added support for the 'local' suffix in CSS files (index.local.css is basically index.custom.css but it won't be included if a sub-skin is selected.) (Subs-Cache.php)
! Fixed cache hash support for slashes (/), and did some micro-tweaking to save a few cycles... I'm desperate for cycles. (Subs-Cache.php)

! Split timezones into continent optgroups in the admin area. Added Africa back into the list... I've seen countless PHP samples about timezones, and over half of them forget Africa as well. Innnn...teresting. (ManageServer.php)
- Removed a hack that was no longer needed after my changes to the pretty URL system. (Display.php)
+ Added support for optgroups in admin-generated select boxes. (Admin.template.php)
* Rewrote the split topics feature to accept a topic parameter (instead of 'from'), so that we can prettify it alongside the other moderator links in topic pages. (Display.php, SplitTopics.php)
! Fixed maximum length for user titles. (Profile-Modify.php)
+ Added a Europe/Paris timezone in user profiles. Hey, what did you expect from me? (Profile-Modify.php)

Yep, but not for long... Only a few months I think? And Karl is the one who wrote the autolink code for Aeva, and IIRC he took whatever was in SMF at the time... So basically, maybe he was the one who changed that in SMF but I'd need to be able to access their old SVN to be sure... (And use that wonderful little tool called Blame...)

I'm sure Wedge will be fine with just a warning message at registration time. That could be disabled from the admin panel for users outside the UK or whatever.

Plugins / Re: Plugins I refuse to do
« on April 19th, 2012, 07:01 PM »I reply to most topics. Aside from dispelling a lot of the smug 'XenForo is better' crap, it does give me a decent barometer as to what people are using software for.
Even if we had a gold Wedge by now, I'm sure there would still be XF fanboys claiming that free software just can't compete.
MATHCHA is even more bastardised a name than CAPTCHA is, heh, but yes, that's what it's known as.
Except that you're not, not nearly 99%. However, I do agree that it might be useful to generate a question like that as an example, I just wouldn't implement it like that (I'd generate it in the install language and install it directly as a question), so that instead of having {equation} show up in the Q&A area, it would show up with the actual question.
Then the localized versions could use local 'common sense' questions like 'Quelle est la couleur du cheval blanc d'Henri IV ?' (What's the color of Henry IV's white horse? Famous one here. I think the answer is white, BTW. Uh no, it's blanc. It's a hard question for a US bot to answer, see.)
| 1. | While vBulletin trends are down, as well as phpBB and even SMF... Only MyBB seems to be up in the free forum world. Hard to say about Wedge though, because it's such as generic word, and although I'd say it's up, we're still lost in a forest of other references ;) |

So, is anyone getting more issues with url tags now? No? Good :)
I think it's worth pointing out that I was going to copy my newly rewritten url auto-linker into Wedge's parse_bbc() code, until I noticed that, ahem.... SMF 2.0 had already done exactly the same...
Well, I know that I'm not the first SMF-related coder who's actually capable of doing complex regexes (lookarounds aren't exactly the most complex of all, they're just not for your average dev), but it's kinda upsetting not to be first on that piece of code, ahah. I just don't like reinventing the wheel!

Twitter, for instance, now hides their action links by default and shows them on hover... Like thoughts here btw (nope, unrelated :P)
And they have the same problem too: if you just want to select the text behind the action links... Well, you can't
Anyway, I'm more of a "hiding is okay" guy because then things can be shown again later, eh, after all there's the full editor link below, and you're well aware that we still load all of its HTML...

The Pub / Re: The Cookie Law (in the UK at least)
« on April 19th, 2012, 06:47 PM »Oh and thank you for posting a copy of your email to ICO. I am relieved and reassured to know that this issue is being taken seriously by the Wedge Team
I'm still convinced that this is just 'for the show', and that this law is only going to be used in clear cases of privacy abuses, as legal grounds for action, rather than being mindlessly applied to every single blog or whatever.
Wedge (and SMF), by having their source code freely available (well, soon for Wedge!), clearly make it easy to get a full list of what the software does with cookies and such.
whilst those over at SMF are simply burying their heads in the sand. You have just provided me with yet another in an increasingly long list of reasons to wait patiently for the release of Wedge!

Oh... Personal opinion? Screw Safari Mobile, at this point.
The priority would be to fix its fucked up behavior when entering a textarea...!! (I don't know why it fails in Wedge when it works perfectly on Noisen... >_<)
(I'm on iOS 4.x BTW -- maybe it's all magically fixed in 5.0...?)

admin.css is loaded (for everyone), only when visiting the Admin area.
index.admin.css is loaded (for admins) everywhere.
It's a suffix -- meaning it can be "media.admin.css" for instance, or even "admin.admin.css" if you're giving admin area access to non-admins and want to keep something to you... :P
I'm keeping my index.local.css, I agree it's a good idea

Archived fixes / Re: Time offset (auto detect)
« on April 19th, 2012, 06:11 PM »Do you *really* want to put a 470-odd long select list into the *general user area*? It's bad enough having it in the admin area.
Consider also that other forums perform just fine having multiple cities grouped together without any problems.
If you want to do it, go nuts. Ever delving into timezones is one of the (very few) things I've ever regretted taking on with Wedge.
Just keep to the server's timezone, and adjust user settings with the time offset... Voilà. If they ever get diverging hours (because of time savings), they can simply update their account page.
The entire situation is a fucking mess, long before we came along, Just remember that whatever you do, you're cleaning up an operation that users will only see on registration and when they delve into their profile, they won't see it the rest of the time.
https://bitbucket.org/pellepim/jstimezonedetect/raw/6c845a1f02b7/detect_timezone.js
This fun little script will try and detect the user's actual time zone. It would be nice to simply run it at registration time, and use it to select a default timezone for the user...
BTW, head to the admin area. I implemented the continent separator into the Manage Server page.
Have fun with managing that 470-odd list down into the groups you're hoping for, it took me long enough to compile the list I had.
(Sorry for my attitude, I'm tired, achy, pissed off with the weather here and I have other stuff going on out here in RL that's bugging me, like the fact that I'm in the process of taking my name off the house that I bought almost 5 years ago as the place I wanted to spend the rest of my life :()
