Are you referring to our SFTP story ('scenario 3'), or to the PURLs talk ('ton of crap in the DB')...?

Archived fixes / [Bug] Re: Select menu is slightly broken on touch screens
« on May 1st, 2012, 10:26 PM »
So.. I was thinking about this topic after noticing that Facebook's iOS app had a perfectly usable scrollbar in their notification area (so many things to do, so few things I actually remember to do later...), and decided to implement Dragooon's code for a try.

It's live here, and it's only 28 extra bytes to sbox.js (gzipped), so I'll certainly be keeping it... It seems to work just like on Facebook, I didn't think it would feel so natural to simply scroll by tapping and moving around in that place, but it does have one drawback... Try it on the Quick Access box. When you're moving the finger, it will 'naturally' highlight a few entries, even though I'm not actually selecting them... And if I release my finger, it'll immediately pick an entry and then proceed to run it. Which isn't good... It's probably good on other sboxes, but not this one, and I need a more 'generic' solution.
I'm sure it can be solved with another event or something that is touch-centric. Any ideas?

I'm positive that webkit does it at least.

IIRC some browsers give you custom CSS to be able to restyle these warnings.

Archived fixes / Re: sb refresh does not update scrollbar

The scrollbar was a last minute addition o I wouldn't be surprised that it doesn't work as expected here. I'll have to check once I'm done with the mega commit and my rest time in the sunshine. I don't know which I'm more eager to do... Hmm.

Re package auto update -- I really dont think it's unfeasable. But it'll require some thinking Indeed.

The method in the VB's script is not DB friendly.
Just wanna say... Again, it's not vb's script. It's Dannii's. vb did pretty much nothing on it. All he was trying to do is accumulate mods in his ownership and use them to advertise his paid-for mods. Bad karma.

The URL DB cache for most people out grows everything else in the DB. Before I noticed it, the URL DB cache was taking up at least 3/4 or 75% of my DB. That is when I suggested to VB to use SMF's cache and also give the option to disable, because that is better than the DB option IMHO. Plus who wants 75% of their DB just used for Pretty URL's.
No one.
Any volunteers to benchmark Wedge in DB/non-DB Pretty URLs modes?
Shouldn't be too complicated to do... But I have no time myself, I'm afraid. I'm busy IRL (most today, tomorrow should be better for me), and even then I'm struggling to finish my newest commit which is going to be huge because I finished many of my 'works in progress' yesterday night (maybe after all, it's a good thing I had my Internet down for so long because at least I was able to focus ), anyway, it's going to take some time to document it and everything...

Either way, I think there's a 90% chance that I'll be removing the DB feature and replacing it with nothing ;)

Well... You know I'm still unsure about MD5 for these.
I don't know...

As already mentioned, Aeva Media is included by default, however it would be no more difficult than it would be for SMF, and in some ways quite a bit easier. The biggest problem is including the style from Wedge because Wedge doesn't use standard CSS files but LESS-type syntax which it auto-compiles, minifies and optionally compresses for better performance, but it really depends on what you're trying to do as to whether this is a good idea or not.
Anyone's still free to use regular CSS files, even in Wedge if you use the classic style throughout the entire file. Or you can simply include a normal CSS file from an external source and it'll be included as is, without any work...

BTW, WeCSS is more in the SASS syntax than LESS. LESS is closer to SCSS which is basically CSS with nesting. I never liked the brackets so much so I naturally went for a SASS syntax, although SCSS/LESS per se are 'supported' if not included alongside the *main* skin CSS file.

I looked into LESS yesterday, BTW... It would seem that during the last year, they added a few interesting innovations like the 'when' keyword. I don't know how they'd be useful in a regular environment thought, but they've certainly been as innovative in the CSS preprocessor field as I've been myself -- only, I don't have time to work on WeCSS more and advertise my new features anyway :P

(Side note: Nao, I can't use the quote splitter. It appears to be broken with an undefined index.)
Fixed, thanks.
It was due to the object rewrite for the editor -- I didn't bother to save this.opt but I didn't remember that splitQuote was trying to access opt from the outside. I should probably turn closed/protect into global vars... It's not like I'm actually going to use these names for anything else...

I was completely cut off from the Net at 5PM, while doing some heavy refactoring on the display template and some scripts. I phoned my ISP at 6PM, they said they were working on it...  Then at 7PM again, they said someone was dispatched to the DSLAM and would fix some broken hardware. At 1AM it was still down and I went to bed.
Only got it back up this morning -- which allowed me to finally upload my updated language files, eh...

I was still able to work on Wedge, but had to cope with swfobject not being definable as a local file so I got plenty of timeouts on that one each time I was looking at an Aeva-powered page...

Archived fixes / Long cache keys make the cache fail.
« on April 30th, 2012, 12:53 PM »
If you go to this page:
http://wedge.org/do/media/?sa=item;in=29

There will be a cache request. The key is generated as such:

aeva-embed-link-B+ Episode 5 - باسم يوسف شو (مع تامر من غمرة) الحلقة ٥

Funny eh..?
Well, it generates an error saying the filename is too long -- and indeed, with bin2hex being used on the key, it does make it extra long...!
I don't know what would be the best fix here... Direct or indirect?

PS: sorry I'm being so silent these days... I try to keep up with reading but I definitely can't post or work on Wedge (too much) -- hectic RL. It's likely that it'll be similar in the next few days, too... I hate that.

Although I can perfectly be convinced that it's important enough to be retained!
