Nao you mean this one?  http://www.android-x86.org/

Android in VirtualBox is interesting.
This one is an image ready for use in VirtualBox and co, yes.
But you can also use the Android simulator + x86 image + Intel drivers, it will be just as fast as in the VB and have a bit more options. Plus it downloads itself through the SDK manager. (Although I have to say, they could have indicated in the software that you have to manually navigate to the SDK folder and install the drivers yourself...)

I still don't get it...

NB: I've reset the poll. Let's focus on the font right now. I'd post larger thumbnails for your convenience, but that's precisely it -- I'm looking for opinions on the font when it's really downsized a lot.
I'm allowing for 2 votes out of 3 options, in case you really don't know which one you like best, and just want to eliminate the one you like the least. If you have a favorite, of course just vote for it and only for it ;)

@Testers> Okay, due to a bug in Wedge's membergroup handling, you probably didn't have access to any boards if you weren't already a Friend. This should be fixed...
Do you mean the betatesters? If so I cannot see any extra board(s) today.
No, I mean the Friend boards. There are no 'Beta boards' as of now. My plans are to do the beta testing in public boards (i.e. bug reports board), there's nothing to hide really. :)
The Tester group's only difference is that it will have access to the download page. Which isn't built yet...

I'm pretty sure I know who icari is, I suspect I have an as-yet-unreplied to PM on another forum about this (mostly because I haven't had time to sit and write a proper reply) and if it is who I think it is, yes, I would be willing to vouch. :)
While I'm okay with giving beta access to people who at least seem enthusiastic about the project (velorooms here was a lurker but I think he seems to be fit to help for the alpha?), I'm certainly not okay with giving access to people who flat-out point out how mysterious they are.

The beta will be private, but only to ensure it doesn't get out of control too soon. The bug reports will be public.
To me, 'mysterious people' will have to wait for a public alpha.

« on October 30th, 2012, 10:01 PM »
rev 1752
(28 files, 12kb)

* Restored ask() function and updated the thought system to use it instead of confirm(). Since the extra custom function adds quite a few bytes, I also optimized the embedded HTML code for better compression, and possibly better readability of the thought system code. So, all in all, the compressed JS is 15 bytes shorter. Good ol' days... (script.js, index.member.css)

+ First batch of ask() conversion. Most confirm(string) calls now use the ask(string, event) syntax. (script.js, ManageAttachments.php, ManageBans.php, ManageMail.php, ManageMembers.php, ManagePaid.php, ManageSearchEngines.php, ManageSmileys.php, MessageIndex.php, ModerationCenter.php, Aeva-Foxy.php, TEMPLATES: Admin, Display, Errors, ManageBoards, ManageMaintenance, ManageNews, ManagePlugins, ManageSmileys, Media, ModerationCenter, Packages, Profile, Recent, Themes)

! $deep_folder was incorrectly initialized, causing CSS files with a 'local' keyword to be ignored by Wess at parse time. (Subs-Cache.php)

* French grammar fix. (ManageTopics.french.php)

First two.
The flowing / curved lines of that font match the flowing / curved lines of the graphic better.
See, that may be the reason why I unconsciously like the first set better... Although it can be argued that readability is better on the second set (because the type is bolder.)
Quote
In the last two it's a mix of flowing / curved lines (graphics) with straight / angeled lines (the font) giving the impression there's no concept behind. Do we go for a business appearance or not?
Depends...

Logo is a bit in the spirit of Wedge's. Font is angled. Can't accuse them of not being 'business-like'... ;)

Well let's compromise and everybody is happy.
Compromise where..?

Or, is this one 'rounder' for you..?

@Pete> There's an x86 version of Android, which can be used to install it on a computer (there's a website dedicated to that, can't remember the URL.) It can also be run in a VM, and it's faster than the stock Windows Android emulator. (Although Intel now ships special drivers for that emulator that make it way, way faster... Actually twice faster than a S3 or something.)

Nexus S, but its kinda old although its a Nexus and can easily run Jelly Bean.
But it's 800x480, innit...? 233 ppi. Not very good. I doubt it would give me the same 'wow' factor as when I first got my iPod Touch 4.
It looks like the only 4'' phones (or smaller) that have a resolution higher than 800x480 (or 854x480) are outdated or bad phones (Motorola Droid 3...), so if I want a good ppi I should either aim for a 3.5'' Android phone (they're probably all too old by now...), or an iPhone 5 (meh...), or a 4.3'' phone hoping it won't be too big.
The HTC Desire X seems interesting, though.
Xperia V definitely sounds like the best compromise for me, but it's not out before next month.

I use a Galaxy Nexus (which is also pretty old now) but that's 4.65" (although that's including on screen button so effective screen size is 4.3 or so inches). HTC One S is 4.3" and a pretty good phone. LG Nexus 4 is around the corner but its a bit bigger (about same as my Galaxy nexus).
HTC One S is something I'm looking into, too.

Oh, while I'm at it... Has anyone here got both an iOS and Android device? From what I can say, if you scroll the screen in your browser, the iOS version reacts immediately, while the Android version introduces a small latency effect. I call it lag, really... It makes scrolling uncomfortable to me. I was wondering if it's a Galaxy S3 effect only, or it's everywhere on Android...? (In which case -- it sucks!)

And the W is the main highlight of Sansation IMHO ;)
Although I could modify it to have one of its branches invisible or something.

Okay, so... Should I be going for these? Or those?

I actually don't remember using my PC's DVD drive for a long time, myself.

Oh, this all makes me think... Can anyone think of a GOOD Android phone with good battery life and a screen that's at most 4'' and a resolution that looks like an iPhone Retina thingy? (I think 1280x768 is a bit overkill at 4'' but I'm not against the idea either :P)

Pete, you need to start giving up on 'good UI', and just going for 'UI' ;)

You're free to rewrite it later anyway! That's what 'new versions' are for...

We never really got to settle on a font...

What do you prefer between these two fonts? Please, only tell me about the font, not the logo itself :)

Features / Re: New revs
« on October 28th, 2012, 06:05 PM »
rev 1751
(3 files +2-2, 3kb)

* Renamed SendTopic to Mailer, because it's more about sending e-mails than sending topic by e-mail. (index.php, xml/detailed-version.php, Mailer.php, Report.php, Mailer.template.php)

Features / Re: New revs
« on October 27th, 2012, 11:14 PM »
rev 1750
(6 files, 11kb)

* Renamed template_profile_icons to template_user_status, and moved it to the left of the user name. Basically, instead of showing profile icons with links in them, which is already dealt with by the new mini-menus, I'm replacing the Online status icon with four squares whose color codes indicate the user status: online/offline, has a website linked, is male/female, is a friend or not. (Display.php, Display.template.php, index.language.php, sections.css)

+ Added See IP / Track IP entries to the mini-menu. Still missing: an e-mail link. (Display.php, index.language.php)

* Replaced all calls to $scripturl with <URL> in the Display stuff. I think it's working... (Display.php)

* Minor CSS tweaks. The most notable change is that I increased the sidebar width by 20 pixels. I think it provides for a better balance, but it's not perfect yet. (common.css, sections.css)

rev 1749 -- I'm saving the better stuff for a round number like the next one :P
(1 file, 1kb)

+ Mini-menus can now show the %id% and %special% variables in the link text in addition to the link URL. If you don't get it, don't bother. (topic.js)

rev 1748
(5 files, 2kb)

! Fixed CSS bug that would occur when having a selector declared multiple times in a file and then used as a mixin. (Class-CSS.php)

! (SMF bug) Typo: can_view_receipient_email. (SendTopic.php, SendTopic.template.php)

* The trackIP function should be named TrackIP per index.php convention, or trackIP per Sources convention (as it's part of multiple sub-actions). I decided to go for trackIP everywhere. (Profile-View.php)

- Removed remnants of the rev 939 removal of guest_hideContacts. (other/install.sql, SendTopic.php, SendTopic.template.php)
