Features / [Poll] Re: Board status icons: what's the point?
« on April 10th, 2014, 10:19 PM »
Lol, I do not use this feature at all. Other than to see the pretty icons, if they are any unique.

Users (myself included) on really big forums might not even care to read the many forum categories on the board index page. On a busy forum, it might be a bit too much to read/catch up. So without actually reading through all the topics, this feature effectively becomes useless, especially with the time since last message is posted as Nao pointed out.

Other than forum "lock", "redirect" icons, It's just for decorations. I will not miss this feature. So let's just have: Normal/Nao's idea, locked and redirect (and anything else other than new/old.)

Other uses of that feature, for a "themed" forum, transparent icons can be replaced with something cool (For example, planets with a tiny bar beneath, the bar goes up as planet gets bigger) if you're into Black Nova Traders game. :)

You shouldn't use any server that doesn't offer php 5.3+, though I would rather folks to hop onto php 5.4 and php 5.5 (definitely 5.5)

The Pub / Re: Wedge repo -- installation feedback
« on January 22nd, 2014, 01:40 AM »
Well done. On my test VM, extracting the file, the permissions weren't set so I had to set everything to 644/777, afterwards I then experienced issues with the wedge installer being "unthemed" (like in Norodo's pic), managed to get that installed anyway. Then I browsed to my profile to fix the theme problem. Going to admin, I get many file writing related problem, this all points to /gz/keys/ directory, I then fixed that directory to be writable. I'll do further testing here and figure out the problem with installing on my VM. This uses
MySQL version 5.5.33, PHP version 5.5.7-1~dotdeb.1, Apache/2.2.22 (Debian)

Now for my test-remote server that is not hosted on my computer (Free hosting service.) Uploading to my webhost, installing, no problems, it installed flawlessly. No theme problems too. This hosts uses:
MySQL version 5.1.71, PHP version 5.4.17, Apache version 2.2.24, Linux 2.6.32-358.23.2.el6.bl1.1.1_1.x86_64
(x10hosting uses litespeed for webserver.)

The Pub / Re: Minimum PHP version?
« on December 23rd, 2013, 01:10 PM »
Whoever can not use php 5.3.4+ should be getting a new host.
5.2 is the current version required by Wedge. PHP 5.2 is great.
^--- I don't find it great. For $reasons.
It should be 5.3. If I were in charge, I would rather this minimal requirement be set to php 5.4

Edit: @Nao, why yew WampServer?!

Other software / Re : SMF reaction to 'unused, useless globals'

At least Nao is not ignoring. I wonder if mybb cares.

The result: mybb 1.6.11
total: 224

Which is currently my choice of what forum software I would use. Think these variables exists for hackish modular purposes or something?
Really? In my newest version of chrome, I can just go to advanced settings, click on the content button and a radio button for Javascript is right there. In IE 10, you can disable it, it's not labeled as Javascript though (Scripting, Active scripting.)

Okay. How about this: Plugin for those who cares!! :D

The Pub / Make obvious to users that their javascript is disabled.
« on August 19th, 2013, 03:49 AM »
Similar to the screenshot. I believe we should have an option that informs our users with disabled javascript that their javascript is disabled. Oo oo with custom message if not overkill. :^^;:
Yup, can't create new topic :S

While on the subject, should we bother caring for users with javascript disabled? Fair enough the options seems a bit buried in Chrome and now Firefox... Opera is a bit easier to get to.

Edit: Ah, evidently, y'all really do care. :)
Archived fixes / [function.preg-replace-callback] : Requires argument 2, 'wedit:format_time'
« on August 19th, 2013, 02:45 AM »
New bububububuuuuug!!

Warning: preg_replace_callback() [function.preg-replace-callback]: Requires argument 2, 'wedit:format_time', to be a valid callback in /Sources/Class-Editor.php on line 2015

This occurs whenever I click on the Modify post button (not using quick modify button.) I couldn't test modifying older posts/topics since a recent board setting changed to forbid editing old post. I was able to test in another thread which created the same result as the first time I encountered this. Hitting the Preview button with javascript disabled, I will nolonger see the error message.
