The German translation is to 100% build from scratch. I know it, because I spend about 3 Weeks on it!
I will look into the difs. Perhaps there are some strings not importet correct?
We will see.

You're so right run an upload again of the missing files/strings and everything accept the Licentie File is almost fully translated into German.

Apology has been my fault.........You have done a great job.

Thanks.
I removed the license file because there's never been any intention to release translated versions of it...

I know that ElkArte guys love Transifex, but I've always been wary of using it. Well, I guess you forced my hand, and that's okay, but I don't know if it'll be something that we can easily interface with Wedge.

For instance, I've been unable to access the string names, only their contents. So I was forced to re-upload the English file for Notifications, just to change the _email string name... Not cool. Then I had to manually update the French and German translations for it, of course... (Even though the _text string was already in the French version.)

Stupid question, but...

How are we supposed to retrieve completed (or ongoing) translations, apart from downloading files one by one..?

Also, I noticed their software disregards comment signs, so "// $txt['something'] = 'Something not to translate';" will STILL be available in the interface, e.g. Profile.english.php has $txt['ignoretopics'] disabled because it's an unimplemented feature, and I certainly don't want people to waste their time translating this kind of string.... :^^;:

Another limitation of Transifex is that it doesn't accept language strings when they're stored in arrays ($txt['something'] = array(0 => 'zero', 1 => 'one')).

That's a problem, because there are dozens such strings...!

Perhaps a "developement" branch would be useful for the language repo. The problem with this is, that merging could be hard, because incomplete language packs on the master branch are stupid. Otherwise doin it manually should be possible.

EDIT: I'm not sure, but perhaps it's possible to give some people only write rights in a specified branch?! Then you could create for each language another branch, and if its finished merge it to master :hmm:

That's what i want to ask you  .....
Well... If neither of us know how to use Transifex, it's not gonna be very useful...

From what I could see, these guys expect us to use a command-line tool to communicate with their API and retrieve multiple files at the same time... It's that, or manually downloading every file! That sucks big time.

As for array() strings, there is no way to have Transifex recognize them. I couldn't find any way to manually tell them, "this place in this file can and should be translated..."

I don't know, but I figured there MUST be a better tool somewhere on the web than... THAT?!
