Not sure how I missed this but... thanks for implementing

Very cool... I'm all for it, less profiles to create.

Features / Re: Making report-to-moderator more powerful
« on February 27th, 2012, 04:13 AM »
I dont see why not, in most cases moderators would be more than capable of deciding whether a reported post is acceptable or not so once they ok the post I don't see a reason it should be re-reported if it hasnt been edited. There is the chance the moderator could have made the wrong decision to ok/approve the post but that should be minimal.
As far as escalating, maybe if said post is reported x times after being approved by a moderator its flagged for the admin to take a look... but I'd be happy with just having it protected until edited.

I do like this approach better than the View/Enter mod. If I'm understanding correctly this will be controlled by board access rather than "permission profiles"?

I like teh idea as I've had that issue... actually I think we even spoke about this some time back. My moderators do get annoyed as do I when a post we've deemed acceptable keeps getting reported over and over. I'm not sure where the throttle should be set but I do like the idea.Quote This I like.
Suppose once a post had been reported, and subsequently moderated/reapproved, it got a 'protected' flag to protect it from being reported again, and editing would naturally clear that flag.

Thanks for the heads up Nao, I hadn't noticed how it was implemented here.

Thanks just took a quick look and that's the same mod, for some reason I never got the options for changing today vs. 24 hours etc, maybe another mod conflicts. Just re-installed for the heck of it and searched high and low and still no options to change it.
SMF's buddy system is rather week anyway. If someone is adding me to their buddy list I'd like to knwo about it and have the ability to approve, ignore, or block the person. The current implementation is more like a stalker list if IMO.

Never notice that particular mod, more-so never used SMF 1x, started off with 2.0RC1.2 IIRC so never paid much attention to anything 1x.
I agree that too many options wouldn't be a good thing... precisely why I added "when they can be proven useful" ;DQuote Where where you figuring on displaying said list, boardindex, a block in WD, or sidebar?

The logic and code is virtually identical, too.

I'm not sure what it does now, after the complaints we had removed it and never really checked on it since.

« on November 13th, 2011, 04:25 PM »There is actually an SMF mod that will let you select a board to use the topics from as news items.
I try to be performance conscious, but I have no problem with offering both provided that the greedy version isn't default (since there are benefits to both)
I could, incidentally, do something pretty similar as a WedgeDesk plugin for tickets... hmm...

Agreed there, when we tried the Users Online mod, everyone complained that the list reset at midnight server time. Even those on the same time as the server didn't like it too much.

Features / Re: Recents posts as formerly on the board index
« on November 13th, 2011, 04:12 PM »I've often wondered whether or not the actual 'news' shouldn't instead be taken from a board rather than some arbitrary bit in the admin panel.
Though it will be slower than simply returning links to the most recent posts on their own; perhaps that should be optional.

I see no reason why I wouldn't make that an option.
but that's actually near enough the same thing when it gets down to it...

Now this plugin is tarting to intrigue me as the option for user's in the last 24 hours would be my preference :)

+1 to removing the News fader - my only argument is that I dont use it :P
As for recent post I'm for whatever would allow recent topics, with a [new] icon linking to first unread post since I last visited the topic. I personally dislike recent post since if a topic is active enough all the recent post could be just from that topic and I find the list redundant since I'm likely to read all the posts from where I left off once I visit a topic.
