Features / Re: Core/Not Core

I agree with some of the above comments, you can't keep adding more and more features as you end up with a bloated platform.

Ideally you want as many of the core functions eg not the forum itself to be optional.
Eg calendar, blog, etc

When writing the smf patches it was always a pain in the backside to have to change the header version no. for every file altered. And often one might get forgotten.

If the version was set at the top of the patch, the program should automatically update the version info at the top without having to code the find/replace statement.

Whilst I'm not familar with the functions you mention as alternatives IIRC the addLoadEvent was added because of pages with multiple triggered events.

The function was meant to enable modders to use so they stay clear from domcontentready or onload events.

Personally I find SEO urls to be URL ABUSE.  I like to see anyone using urls with more than 4 words in the path given negative ranking by Google.  But hey thats just a matter of opinion. I much prefer a simple ?id=3333

I can confirm what Arantor and Nao have said re SEOURLS.  These days they make next to ZERO difference.
ALL search engines can read dynamic urls (eg the ones with a question mark in) just as well as seo urls.

The only circumstances where I have noticed that SEO urls appear to help is where someone backlinks to your site without using a title eg
http://www.mortons-solicitors.co.uk

When a title is used it doesn't appear to help.
Mortons Solicitors

then those words in the url appear to be useful keywords.
