I've honestly felt like every POST or MODERATION action should be done ajax without having to re-load the page.

It looks cool, saves time and saves alot of wasted queries and bandwidth.

Since the SMF devs are obviously unable to do the amount of work they're expected to do, I'm sure the SMF team will eventually rely on this.[nb]
Can't really see it myself for the development version.  Sure for the stable versions to bug fix etc, but IMO smf needs revolution not evolution.  It needs re-writing from scratch to remove the bottlenecks holding back performance and scalability.

Query, I thought it was a little known feature of smf that you could already login with your email address?

The change to GPL will occur shortly after the following events all come to pass:
1. GPLv4 is released that isn't hideously virus like in its approach, tainting everything it touches.
2. Richard Stallman steps down from being a hypocritical, misguided zealot.
LMFAO!
1. Well yes xenophobic/discriminatory.  I couldn't have described GPL in practice better myself, although theoritically speaking I did initially support the movement.  If your not the same licence or compatible with gpl then you deserve to die. (In my opinion GPL which expressed its need for openness, honesty & integrity ends up looking more like the 4th Reich of Nazi Germany.)

2.  He's the Julian Assange of the open source community, all ego, wrong in so many ways.
They forget that the
(FSF || Richard Stallman) != Free Open Source Community

Well sqlite and pgsql were all tested (i did most of the bug hunting on it).

But both got repeatadly broken with each RC.  Some sites did start using them, but I don't think any survived.

I like the idea of having the dates constantly update themselves. Its facebook'esc.
Essentially users not having to refresh to be shown how long ago that message was actually posted.

"it was 1min ago when you loaded the page, but by the time your reading the last post on this 20 post topic its now 10mins ago.

SMF is at the point where there are bottlenecks.

To get past them needs re-writing from scratch.

Hopefully all the forks will add much rejuvination to all the projects.
Revolution not evolution is what it needs.

Fundamentally though the internet has moved on.
Just like the old coding for old browsers we hate so much in SMF, the same goes for some features.

Although some users will expect the same 'old' same 'old' most of the new people to board software expect something more akin to twitter, facebook, google+ etc.
