I was 90% sure you meant that, I was in 10% doubt you were referring to Yourasoft's Core. I don't know, I may eventually end up making a worthwhile portal.

My main point for wanting to provide a portal out of the box is that it'll help avoid the numerous portal systems in SMF. I'd rather have a unified system in Wedge, and then let people add plugins for specific features that would normally be in a portal package.

And yes I think it's best to put your best into things you do, but sometimes "your best is not good enough". Oh, I'm watching too much South Park these days, I keep quoting episodes.

lol, where's the passion.. ;D

IMHO its never worth doing anything you don't put your soul into, especially on open source, as I am sure Nao will agreed on ;)

TBH I don't think Wedge really needs a portal at this stage - its already on a good way to be forum-with-extras so the few things a portal(at least the "normal" view of a portal mod) would provide isn't going to raise it that much.
It's not a question of passion, I really want to do that, it's just finding enough time to make a good one and continue supporting it.

It would be nice that wedge have only ONE portal that works and fullfill common needs... I mean, in SMF almost all portals are the same.

Yeah, but a built-in would leave the horrible and tedious duty of answering "which is the best portal" when they are pretty much the same, maybe some have features that others don't and that kind of stuff, but basically is a easy way to have a main page in your forum...

What other use do people give to a portal? Not many creative stuff when you have many limitations...

There is a mod for that, no need of a portal :P

Well, there were a few last time I checked...

Yes, but only because it surprisingly won't fit everyone's needs. At least, I think that's why...

Yup. I don't plan on implementing every single possible feature into it because while that seems like it would be efficient, it really won't.

What I will do, however, is really try and make the core as flexible as possible.
