So where can I download Wedge?

Thought that would get your attention :lol:

Just letting you know I'm not lurking in the shadows - lurking yes, but I don't mind you knowing I'm lurking :P  So this is what all the fuss is about? :eheh:

A sense of humour is greatly appreciated :P

And yes, this is what the fuss is about, although from the front it might not look (quite) so different... it's more the subtle things. Like the notifications when I say @ChalkCat, or the add-on system or the revamped admin panel, or infinite scrolling (hit a multi-page topic, scroll down, keep scrolling), or when the same person posts two posts together there are all kinds of magic around that... yeah, it's an interesting journey and when I figure out how to solve certain things it'll get even better.

For example, drafts. There's drafts on posts and PMs and it's a lot smoother to configure than in that other bit of software that we have no allegiance to whatsoever :P

I like the notification :D  I already checked out the soft merge of double posts and I love that - it's really cool how the user box stays where it until it's time to step aside for the next one.  Drafts was duly noted when I posted but I hadn't seen the infinite scrolling in action until just now.  I like it a lot though my browser threw a wobbler (literally) as I was scrolling (Firefox 23.0.1 with a heap of add-ons).

It all looks very smart, I can see what you get so passionate about :cool:

It's really not just me. All the really fancy front end stuff is @Nao's work and he's made a great job of it. I tend to do the back end stuff, though I have been known to dabble with newer user interfaces like the drag 'n' drop to rearrange boards in the admin panel...

It's also interesting to note, the notifications system started out life as a plugin. In fact, we're running a number of plugins here as it is... 10 in fact. And because they're all without-edits (in fact, no plugin in Wedge can make file edits), they all play pretty nicely.

* list of active members in a topic (live627)
* improved attachments upload, allowing AJAX uploading, drag and drop attachments etc. (Dragooon and Nao)
* easy button to clear the language cache (me)
* member mentions (Dragooon)
* redirection for certain old style SMF URLs (Nao)
* flash the little envelope when you have a PM (me)
* skin selector (me and Nao)
* topic solved (me)
* users online today (me)
* some site specific stuff (me and Nao)

Yeah, it's an interesting experience. I really should get around to merging some of this stuff into the core sometime, though.

I'm gushing. I'm generally pretty happy with where we are right now and the fact that we're running a bunch of plugins and all's still good is a good reflection on us, I think :)

Oh I know it's a team effort, but I don't yet know the others except by name and reputation :angel:

It does look like a lot of fun - hard work too but even that's fun when it's something you enjoy - and I think I shall enjoy lurking :P

This is very nice, and it's great to see so many familiar names involved, too. :)

I just hope that I can help test new features. (Please let me know when some are added, and I'll help test.)

Very smooth on the poster info slider. This looks like it could be the best forum software out there. :)

Being new here, I really have no idea what has already been tested, so figured instead of jumping in on already done things, I'd wait patiently for the new. ;)

No good news at all.It seems Wedge is now only developed by Nao.
I wonder if or when Wedge will be released without major delays to the public ?

You're right about that MultiformeIngegno,I am just a little bit concerned that this ambitious project will not reach his ultimate goal ( The final release of Wedge).I hope that both founders & directors come together to get the job done.

Umm... you all do realise that this is just my daft hello topic, and the ironic thread title was chosen just to make the devs roll their eyes in despair then chuckle with relief as they realised I was only pulling their legs..., don't you?  :whistle:
