Other software / Re: SM.org compromised
« on July 27th, 2013, 02:02 AM »
@nend, why would they need fake admin accounts? I read about security practice of this, known as "honey pot" IIRC. While there are some benefits, I do not like the idea of having traps set up for would-be hackers. IMO, in a way, it's like a false sense of security. If anything, the would-be hackers will learn what happened and figure your game, then to try something else.

Features / Re: Soft merging of posts
« on July 26th, 2013, 09:13 AM »
I thought this feature got added a long time ago. I noticed it while reading the commits to this project.

With that said, I like where this is going. At least the threaded view of things, even though it might break the traditional forum topic appearance. A reply to a reply should appear as a new message. A threaded reply to a reply would kinda get funny to those not used to viewing threaded discussions. I've seen on some websites. Just doesn't appear too elegant.

I like how youtube does it. You can see all the messages,  and a reply to a reply are clasped, but you can still see their messages as a New message being replied to another commenter.

Yay for RTL!

LTR vs RTL. I worried about this when making my code to handle webpage layouts. So you can use any language and any layout with CSS that supports that supports LTR, and another CSS that will support RTL. I know some Hebrew language readers would be interested.

Ah, 5 minutes, so that's the timer. I was waiting long enough for this feature to kick in. Thanks. :D

Archived fixes / Send a message, reply to a message
« on July 18th, 2013, 08:00 AM »
Wow. I can not do any of those. Now that I think of it, I remember going through my profile looking for a feature and checking to see if I have any unread message, and send a message, I do not know why I even wanted to.

I now notice what appears to be a bug. Attempting to send message or if I want to reply, I would get the "Wrong value type sent to the database. Array of integers expected. (users)" error. Looking at the url pictured, going to "http://wedge.org/do/pm/?sa=send" will also give me the same error. (Yup, something is wrong with "sa=send".

Ah, now I remember why I browsed around and not noticed an problem until now. I was more concerned with how the URL appeared. Trying to see if this software follows the ?action=this, ?action=dothat, ?action=andThisAsWell. A lotta softwares uses ?action=something. Being OCD here, I believe in awesome short variable names. :^^;: Something that describes my software better (?task=attack ???)

Archived fixes / Ignoring Users
« on July 15th, 2013, 05:55 AM »
Shouldn't this feature also ignore their signature? If I were to ignore someone, it could be because their signature is obscene. Their username should be hidden. IMHO, it should just be an empty post block with reason why it will not display content and option to unignore (Which it currently does, with the above exceptions I've pointed out.)
Posted: July 15th, 2013, 05:53 AM

"Thoughts" posted by ignored users are still visible at the moment.

Other software / Re: Powered by SMF footer
« on July 13th, 2013, 09:20 PM »
Anyone creating a bot specifically for Wedge will find a way to spam anyway. We can only reduce the impact at the expense of convenience and ease to use.

Most people do not bother modifying their copy of the install. Most people (at least me) will find a way to know how I can obtain a copy of an install used by another website. It is true that I will come across a website and not know what content manager the website owner used. I learned about phpBB and etc purely by the logo that appears on webpages. Not the "powered by". Desperately, I will learn about the origins of various softwares by copyright/credits that appears on the page.

Features / Re: More useless nonsense
« on June 19th, 2013, 07:29 AM »
Could make it optional then, or move it to being a plugin? I understand website authors likes to brag how awesome their website is. I wouldn't like for the message to appear there which screams "a forum living on borrowed time".

Off-topic / What type of programmer are you?
« on June 16th, 2013, 03:00 AM »
I found this page after googling "OCD programmer" since  I'm curious if there's a term to describe the type of programmers who's always worried about little things such as variable names, the order of words that appears in a variable name, camel-toe vs insert-naming-convention-here, how the output such as HTML appears and alternatives to "if (strlen($string) == 0)" and such. [1]

The theoretical one describes me too because I do stare blankly at my computer and rant about time  while I OCD my way towards a stable version of my code. While my stuff are very stable, I never view it as a complete project... With that said, what type of programmer are you?
 1. That happens to be me :-/, I can't stand to see imperfection in my code, I hate trailing spaces and most things better line up properly or it'll be edited to line up.

The Pub / Re: Infinite Scroll
« on June 16th, 2013, 12:30 AM »
Hmm, I just noticed this and like the current implementation of it. I never think to just scroll further than the current page would allow me to. I tested this just now and it doesn't activate upon a tiny super minor mouse scroll which is a good thing. :D

I was wondering how everyone was testing this, I didn't think this would actually go live and I didn't bother to read ALL the posts. Anyway, great job on the implementation.

OMG, I really hope this will be optional between users. I hate infinity scroll. I finally got used to google image search when they first implemented it, then began to like it.
If we're going to have infinity scroll, wouldn't it present a problem that you can never reach the bottom of the page for options like quick reply and 'Pages: « previous 1 … 3 4 5   Go UP'? I hope we will be able to access such options all the time.

Just as a thought, how about a compromise of 'load the next x items AJAXively' as a button, without having to actually go to the next page?
I like this idea here.

Can you make it wrap back around to the first post when reaching the last post? That would be really trick. :)
That should not be automatic.
