Off-topic / Re: Automagically De-Nesting Quotes
« on May 22nd, 2013, 02:31 AM »
I am glad our admin was smart enough to never activate nested quotes. I hate them.
I have visited forums with nested quotes where the quote sometimes ran 20 levels deep and the largest answer was about 4 words long. Nuts, plain nuts.
On our forum there are also people that misuse the quote button as the answer button. You can keep telling them they shouldn't. but they are used to it from other places.
I have the most success by sending those people a PM telling them that in a normal (spoken) conversation they wouldn't even think about repeating everything the other people say before answering. That really makes them think and often they start using quote for the purpose it's meant.

Features / Re: Splitting a topic, keeping the origin
« on May 20th, 2013, 11:06 PM »
I am a moderator and split topics quit often to get a off-topic discussion in there own topic.
So I don't like having a non deletable link to the original topic in the splitted topic simply because there's no connection (off-topic).
If this option can be chosen at splitting, and/or the entire option be switched off by the admin. then it is oke.

Off-topic / Re: The hardships of being a perfectionist?
« on April 25th, 2013, 08:22 PM »
Being a perfectionist doesn't make live easier.
It's hard to please your self. You tend to forget quicly what great things you accomplished because they get pushed to the background by unfinished things, or things not (yet) quite up to your standard.
Don't allow yourself to get upset by those things, Try to keep in mind that it;s impossible to be perfect in everything and that a day only has 24 hours.
I know it's easier said than done, but's important that you try. Although be aware not to get upset that you can't do that perfectly. <_<
But who am I telling this, your a qualified counceller.
I am not trying to be the wiseguy, above is based on my own experiences.

Guilty.
I was one of the people downloading infractions_wip.zip
I thought it contained a screenshot or something like that.

Off-topic / Linux distributions dump MySQL.
« on March 26th, 2013, 04:28 PM »
Wasn't sure where to put this.
I just read that Slackware, Arch and Fedora 19 dump MySQL in favor of MariaDB. OpenSuse 12.3 makes MariaDB default and MySQL an option.
There's a chance more distributions will follow.
You probably already know this.
Will this have any influence on Wedge?

Indeed. IE10 in normal mode everything is oke again.
In compatability mode Avatar still moves to the right. Not important because you don't need it, but I just wanted to you know.

Very strange looks in IE10 in Win8 64bit in all themes. Both in normal and compatability mode.
Cleaning internet cache did't help.
Have a look on the pictures.

Archived fixes / Bug in menu on hovering username.
« on February 26th, 2013, 11:15 AM »
When I hover the user name I get a menu. Clicking on "profile" doesn't take me to the profile of the user but to the first post of the topic.
I did search and found no message about this.

Features / Re: Editing PMs
« on February 9th, 2013, 11:33 AM »
If this feature delays the sending of the PM quite some time (minutes), I'm against it because it would kill a conversation.
Personally I always preview a PM, or message before posting. Somehow I find it easier to find misstakes that way.
This made my come up with a possible alternative, Having a preview popping up, or showing, on hitting the Post button and having to confirm to post what you see by clicking the Post button a second time , or better a second Post button. This way there won't be a real delay (accept long posts), but there is the change that people actually read what they wrote and make necessary alterations.
It could be considered nagging and I'm not sure it isn't already possible with admin options.

I have no other browsers installed as I am quit fond of IE. I know some people will declare me nuts for that. :eheh:
Maybe I will install other browsers to test. Not sure about that.
For now: bedtime

I always see the sitebar so I am pretty sure my IE10 Window is over a 1000 pixels.
But indeed when running IE10 in a bigger Window it only jumps up and down and doesn't change its size.
This jumpy behavior is not very attractive so I thought it would be good to tell.
Will this be solved before Wedge goes gold? Especially because IE10 will become the main browser on Windows.

I'm seeing a strange behavior of the layout on Wedge I don't see on any other site.
Maybe I missed it but I haven't seen a topic about it yet.
Every page opens a bit bigger as it should be and then shrinks to the required size. This happens in all themes and is independent of the size of the IE10 Window size.
It happens quit fast, but very noticeable.
Switching IE10 to compatibility mode solves the problem.
I'm using IE10 (desktop version) in Windows 8. Laptop has a nVidia 9300M GS graphics card.
Cleaning cookies, temporary IE files, updating graphics driver etc brought no improvement.
