I just started a thread about part of my withdrawal.
The main gist, greatly simplied, is thus:
A little while back, there was a vote for the Support team lead.
The current Lead, Jim M, was hardly ever on the forum and he did hardly anything.
There had been a lot of complaints about it, too.
So, I stood against him, in the vote.
Then, Lex got nominated and accepted.
Having had various conversations with Lex, I knew that he felt the same way that I did. So, rather than see the vote split and Jim get back in, I dropped out.
What happened? Jim got voted back in! How? Because the other team leads voted for him!
Team leads? What the hell were they allowed to vote for? It should've been just the support team that voted!
But, they let the vote stand.
One of the other problems, was that Jim kept letting certain people have certain tasks to do. Apprentice mentors, that kinda thing.
Those people weren't into doing things for SMF's sake. They did things to make money out of it.
You know who they are...
So, when Jim got voted back in, I resigned, as I'd said I would. (I'm a man of my word, if nothing else)
That was that.
The stupid thing, is that most of the other team leads told me that I shouldn't have dropped out of the vote, because they would've voted for me!
They were, obviously, totally out of touch with what had been going-on, within the support team.
Which is why members of the support team should've been the only ones allowed to vote.
Idiocy. Total and utter idiocy.
You know what, though?
I'm doing almost as much support, now, as I did when I was on-site!
People who don't want to go on the forum, because of the "Atmosphere"...
I quote "What are they? Fucking robots? Does SMF batter the personalities out of people, or something?"
Actually, I really miss the place. But, the horse has bolted and the door's been locked. :(
