Subconscious ties

Pete, there seems to be a lingering tieback to SimpleDesk. Having spent hours and days for it, this seems all too natural. It's like a part of you is attached to it, kinda similar to rearing a child. You find it emotionally difficult to say it's time to move on.

And then along comes someone else to continue its development. His reputation is not too great and probably would screw something up. Joining just to attempt to prevent said mishaps wouldn't end very well. Especially when the passion, time, and desire aren't there.

So maybe it's time to just forget about SD. Forever. It's not your problem anymore. If the new staff over there mess up, it's their problem. Can  they come crying to you that they went belly-up? Perhaps. You aren't associated with them, so why give a rat's?

I feel the same way about Dream Portal.

It was originally more than that, I actually set up the account so that I could keep an eye on their bug tracker for the purposes of fixing issues in WedgeDesk.

Oh, and he has actually already screwed something up. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that the VERY LINE ABOVE THE ONE HE EDITED was a comment expressly suggesting not to do exactly what he did.

The fact that most of the bugs that are in SD at present are in WD and more than one person has said to me that they have, and I quote one of them, "no faith in them ever being fixed", so when I'm fixing them in WD I might as well (generally) fix them in SD as well at the same time.

You know it's sad when I'm STILL able to fix crap faster than one of their two devs, the other just doesn't have the time to really develop it.

There's nothing subconscious about it, it's only because I've done things for WD that I even worry about SD any more - I wouldn't be touching SD if it weren't for WD.

But I think in 2012, I really need to reconsider my time, because I'm just trying to cope with so much and it's causing me to burn time on everything else, to the point where I'm just chasing my own tail and getting more stressed; I've been more ill in the last month due to stress than I have in years...

To put it in context, my hair started to go grey 5 years ago when due to a change in workplace stuff, I got much more stressed, and over 2011, I'd started to actually reverse that trend through lower stress generally in my life - up until the autumn when crap after crap just came my way and I'm going grey again. I'm only fucking 28 and going grey out of stress. I seriously need to rethink my life, I'm fairly sure I'd end up without having indigestion several times each fucking day out of it.
