I only see [Home] and [Profile] here on this site.

Moved some of the main menu's top entries (media gallery, member list) to sub-entries of the 'home' menu. Also moved the Logout button to the 'profile' menu. (Subs.php, index.css, index.english.php)
But actually i dont really like it :^^;:. The menu is too empty...
If members would be a "main entry", that would be nice.

The idea is to get rid of the menu bar and allow skinners to mix it with other things like the notification bar. Or simply give more padding to the menu like I'm planning to try.

Additionally anyone can write a plugin to move Members back to the root of course. It's easy to do with hooks.

Guys, feel free to say if I'm the only one liking this! I mean, I tend to take your tastes as granted...

I like it. I think it's a cleaner look.
Allowing people to adapt it for their own purposes seems like a good plan to me.

Personally I'm not a fan of icons within the drop down menu (just the 'gallery' or 'member' wording should suffice).

But generally speaking, a menu is a menu is a menu. Drop down, pop up, static list in left or right column... whatever makes for easier coding and better speed is good for me.

Sorry to say this but I don't like it. Would be a reason for me not to use Wedge!

Really? For THAT..?

Some people see what they wanna see.
If, to you, a small design decision (that can be customized quickly) outweighs the years I spent on innovative, more technical features, then so be it.

Perhaps a plugin to easily customize the menu would be a good thing. :hmm:

I'll make it a skin option. It'll be easier on eberyone. Still... Not too happy that people are generally seeing a fork's worth as its default theme. Outside of it, it's too 'complicated' to evaluate.

I think I'm missing something here. Nao is clearly not too happy as stated - but about what exactly? People liking (or not liking) a menu system? And the complicated evaluation? I'm lost :-/

Someone please explain (in simple terms, like I was a 5 year old) what the problem is: for users and for Nao?

In short (and as I see it - all errors of interpretation are my own.)

The problem from a user perspective:
The webpage looks different.

The problem from @Nao's point of view:
Some people are willing to give up on Wedge because of a cosmetic change, which users could easily customize to their own preference. Some users are fickle and focus merely on the bling, not on all the (tons of) stuff beneath the hood.

OK, I see where you're coming from. I wouldn't really say the page looks different though - no difference that strikes me anyway.

Cosmetic, fickle, bling etc... yeah, I see why Nao should be tired of that.

I'm just making it possible for skinners to build a non-menu-centric header is all.

It's interesting that PowerBob actually left wedge.org over this......
