I noticed the post at SMF shared on my FB. Seems like I have been away for far too long. However the attitude is still the same.

You would think they would of had the database dump and package manager disabled. But SMF can do no wrong and everything is OK how it is. According to them this is not the way they got the information, I don't know of any other way at this time.

Idea to mind why not create fake admin accounts with fake stats and anybody that tries to log into it ban them for a while.

Ok, just looked at my source code, the default db cache was the main problem in the original. I may be rambling though since your code more than likely changed.

I did cache data to the cache system, however It looks like I commented the lines out and disabled them. I am thinking it was when I was using the SQLite cache, however still some areas are faster generating a new url than relying on the default db cache. Basically saying the caching that is currently in the system by VB is just plain junk.

I would like to see how you guys are doing it and maybe lend some insight or ideas into the matter.

I think I know what you are talking about and if you remove the db caching mechanism or use relative instead of absolute that might fix the problem.

The db system would be desirable due to topic name changes or board name changes right?

I think I trimmed most of the fat though off the storage. Originally the mod stored whole URLs which I changed to relative. Also I store more frequent hits in the cache so DB is only queried when the cache doesn't have the URL and updated as needed to minimize db usage.

It has been a while since I missed with the code on my site that uses pretty URLs so I don't remember all I did, but as I can recall allot of bugs and db waste fixed.

SMF development shouldn't be too hard. Deny all feature request because users supposedly wouldn't understand them or use them. After that fix a few security bugs in the previous version and slap a new version number on it.

I know there is more into it but just seems like no one on the team wants to step up their game. Maybe in fear of the other team.

Even without SMF core the platform is still capable of more.

What is really lacking IMHO even in ports is the ability for structural diversity. I guess I can go on about the lack of modern features but I will not.

I have been thinking about donating code though but when I find the time. I was thinking maybe all the source code changes @ Wrestle Topia may be beneficial to someone.

Same here no problems using stock Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2 and the stock Chrome browser.

If you use Flash though Adobe no longer really supports anything and pushing users to HTML5. No flash for Nexus 4 and I don't really care.

Also I believe for Firefox on you have to download a second plugin for html5. Don't know about Opera. Chrome has the support built in.

That is if you have any html5 in there.

Just like race and religion, gender shouldn't be a factor. I strongly believe this should be illegal for insurance companies to do. In my life I only had one accident. However at my age I don't believe they factor in gender.

Speaking of military men once they reach 18 in the USA where I live are required to register with the selective service by law. Just means you have to sign just in case a war breaks out and your needed, like it or not. Women are not required to do this.

Also auto insurance is cheaper for women here...

In the case of doing more work due to gender, how is it justified that just because I am male I have to exert more energy by doing more of the heavy lifting. Energy isn't free, I have to get my energy from substance. So spending more money on substance and still getting the same pay. Which if you think about it in mathematical terms I am actually getting paid less since I have to spend some of my pay on substance to do the extra work.

This isn't a complaint about doing more work, but spending more and getting same back in return.

The top should be devs right, this is usually the way of things.

That is how it is at another place I am part of the staff.

Kernel/Framework devs = gods
App devs = semi-gods
Other team = kings

I am a semi-god, sort of work between app and some web based data systems that drive them.

Even when I was semi active at SMF I never considered any other team member of any important state besides the devs. The devs really do hold the cards and should be treated with more respect. As for finding devs should be a serious job and no one should be promoted to dev instantly IMHO. The software can carry on with just devs, as for the site being a pleasant place, well maybe not, but software will get used no matter the site.

If I program a robot to lift it better lift and not give me problems about if I programmed x or y in its software routine when x or y doesn't affect its lifting capabilities. Especially when the x routine is used and the load is well within the boundaries of the software and hardware.

At a ice house I worked in between jobs brings up another situation. It was a ice house so they could only afford a limited amount of staff. There was always plenty of work though, however we did have one slacker. The place didn't want to get rid of her though because they feared that she would later on sue them for gender discrimination. However bagging and stacking ice had to be done, however she was excused from it since she was a women. While we bagged and stacked the ice, the labor part she just sat in a nice warm office and didn't do a thing. She did help with the hauling however that was done with power equipment and hand trucks. Once again same pay more exertion done by myself. Maybe I can turn it around and said the company discriminated against me due to me being a male and made me do more work, ah whats the use.

Same here, just seems like they got more rights then us men folk. Didn't always used to be this way, spare the history lesson when women really didn't have rights, but I just wish for equality.
