The Pub / Front Page – Something other than a board listing.

I know you all have mentioned there is a possibility for a portal in the future. So I have been thinking, is there a need for a portal?

Anyway I was thinking, and I don’t know how simple this would be. How about a configurable Front Page, this front page could grow into a content management system over time, but could start simple.

It would start out as a simple configure page with a few options:
  • Normal Board listing and no Front Page
  • Blog board set to default (Shows the blogs from the board set)
  • FAQ Board set to default (see above)
  • Board set to default (see above)
  • Gallery set to default (see above)
  • Template Override (For advanced users)
The Template Override would allow advanced users to show whatever they want on their front page. Be it a set of blocks, pulled content, what have you.

Long term this could lead to a pages module/add-on for static content, an articles module/add-on for more dynamic content (could have different article types with different fields ect ect.)

Maybe so, I didn't say people had to be happy or nice, however as a user the drama isn't so bad the sticks in the bums long after is though. It just gets old seeing people snapped at for asking a question or being told stuff needs to be done in PM or other stupid stuff. Lots of the stuff makes Nao's (thats no slight Nao) bad days look calm. Sure there language may be "nicer" but the attitudes are much worse.

Me using the word cranky is be being nice about the attitudes.

Anyway no one had been rude to me personally I am just a reader for the most part, however seeing how rude so many of the team members are is just sickening after awhile.

 1. Not everyone is a cranky butt, and I have not been on the receiving end.
 2. I believe in transpacific so it isn't the politics or the drama that bothers be. Its the attitudes.

Nothing radical its just nice that its fairly friendly over here compared to a whole bunch of cranky people (not that people can't have bad days but come one no it can't be every day.)

Actually in the ruins of Peru and Chile archaeologists have found potato remains that date back to 500 B.C. . The first Europeans to discover the potato was the Spanish conquistadors in 1532, though they didn't take them back to Spain until 1565 because they where looking for gold. Ended up taking potatoes instead, thats one talk you don't want to have with the boss (king.)

Yep, which is why I don't use it normally. Honestly I just "edit" deleted posts saying they where deleted (if I am the admin that is.) That happens rarely either way though not much of a believer in deleting posts.

Be it inline, or a fake recycle bin I am glad to see that there will be innovation even in something as "simple" as post moderation. Lots of developers forget every step in the process effects usability and overall user experience.

I am all for disabling features including PM's, while most sites I would leave them on. Sometimes I think they hinder discussion so I would disable them.
