Features: Miscellaneous / Re: Gravatar support
« on May 8th, 2011, 10:53 AM »Yes, but which is easier: entering an email address or copy/pasting a long, ugly link?
But well, the other option makes it on this way easier, as I don't need to login into gravatar.com to get the link.

« on May 8th, 2011, 10:33 AM »The 34.6% market share for China is not inside IE.
:hmm:
Just look at the bottom of the box, doesn't it say 'Made in China'? :thanks:

Do you use a public CDN for it or is it host locally? Because I wouldn't like a CND version of that jquery stuff.

« on May 7th, 2011, 10:17 PM »
Those UTF-8 problems are more than annoying. On that board I'm a member off I cannot use the german language as the one is the ISO form and the other is the UTF-8 form and somehow it doesn't really work right as it breaks mods if you use the one or the other. Really annoying.

Well as I remember it right SQLite (2) is a core feature since some time in php and SQLite3 is a core feature since 5.3. So you can use both. If you implement SQLite then you should stick with SQLite3 as SQLite(2) is just to slow for it.
To the PDO-Topic:
With the PDO interface it shouldn't be that hard to allow additional databases. You have here and there some differences but that's nothing that couldn't be fixed (or something like that).

Well, I use a gravatar already on another forum. I just copied my gravatar link and use it as my avatar. If i change the images, it gets changed automatically with it... so after all you can already have a gravatar.

« on May 7th, 2011, 09:59 PM »Hmm... Never seen a post by her, so I can't say.
IE6: doesn't change to me... 11% market share means I have to provide minimum support for it. Bad graphics and bad layout happen everyday for IE6 users (on every other website), so I don't bother with that, but it's still the same as 8 months ago: I want to piss people off for keeping using that decade-old browser, but I always feel compelled to do some extra work to support them. The quest for perfection is a double-edged sword.
Almost 40% of your 11% market share comes from china...

After all I think SQLite isn't made for forums. It works well with the most sites, but forums are clearly the wrong scope, except then you are setting up a testboard.

Seriously Ante, you're STILL at that point for SMF 2.1? That's what makes you vomit in SMF2? GIFs? How about animated GIFs? How about small GIFs that are smaller than their PNG counterpoint? (Yes, there are.) How about you get to work on the real stuff that makes any designer vomit when looking at the SMF files? (There are plenty to choose from. GIF overuse is certainly not at the top of the list...)

Features / Re: Recycling board by default
« on April 23rd, 2011, 04:47 AM »Well, it's technically natural since that's how it's physically stored.
Yup. When we say forum, we mean the entire forum thing, and a board is one area where there are topics.

Features / Re: Recycling board by default
« on April 22nd, 2011, 03:31 AM »It's already implemented. The whole point of this thread is _how_...
Yeah, the current view is that what's there - making an existing SMF feature more prominent and turned on out of the box - isn't particularly ideal for a number of reasons, thus floating the idea of changing it and making it different and better. We're just not clear on how to make it better yet.
I think let it be a board is quite strange. I would make some administration option for that and wouldn't let it be a part of the boards[1].
| 1. | That forum ~ board thing is always irritating. The ones call the whole thing board and then forums and others call it forum and have boards in it. |

I "don't know" If i would use it and "I don't care" if it would be implemented. It sounds reasonable either way :)
