Yes, but which is easier: entering an email address or copy/pasting a long, ugly link?
Well, the gravatar site provides even a link to copy. And I guess everyone should at least be able to past a link into a field...

But well, the other option makes it on this way easier, as I don't need to login into gravatar.com to get the link.

- Local (gzipped along with script.js+theme.js to avoid using up an extra hit)
- Google CDN
- jQuery CDN
- Microsoft CDN

I did my best to satisfy everyone really ;)
Thanks :) Well even if it is a bad practice I don't want to rely on google or any other sites. Even if that makes higher bandwidth. I have unlimited traffic on my site, so it doesn't matter anyways ;)

The 34.6% market share for China is not inside IE.
I didn't said that. I said that almost 40% of your 11% marktshare is going to chinese ie6 users. If 11% is 100% and 40% are chinese ie6 users then there is 60% left of that 11% marktshare for other countries ie6 users.

 :hmm:

Just look at the bottom of the box, doesn't it say 'Made in China'? :thanks:
Wouldn't it say "Made in Redmond - Dead customer support"?

Do you use a public CDN for it or is it host locally? Because I wouldn't like a CND version of that jquery stuff.

Features: Forward thinking / Re: UTF8 only!
« on May 7th, 2011, 10:17 PM »
Those UTF-8 problems are more than annoying. On that board I'm a member off I cannot use the german language as the one is the ISO form and the other is the UTF-8 form and somehow it doesn't really work right as it breaks mods if you use the one or the other. Really annoying.

Well as I remember it right SQLite (2) is a core feature since some time in php and SQLite3 is a core feature since 5.3. So you can use both. If you implement SQLite then you should stick with SQLite3 as SQLite(2) is just to slow for it.

To the PDO-Topic:
With the PDO interface it shouldn't be that hard to allow additional databases. You have here and there some differences but that's nothing that couldn't be fixed (or something like that).

Well, I use a gravatar already on another forum. I just copied my gravatar link and use it as my avatar. If i change the images, it gets changed automatically with it... so after all you can already have a gravatar.

Blarg, Arantor was to fast :/

But if you add those things then you need at least some languages to choose from xD

Hmm... Never seen a post by her, so I can't say.

IE6: doesn't change to me... 11% market share means I have to provide minimum support for it. Bad graphics and bad layout happen everyday for IE6 users (on every other website), so I don't bother with that, but it's still the same as 8 months ago: I want to piss people off for keeping using that decade-old browser, but I always feel compelled to do some extra work to support them. The quest for perfection is a double-edged sword.
But why? Even Microsoft want users to switch to a newer version of IE. http://ie6countdown.com/

Almost 40% of your 11% market share comes from china...

After all I think SQLite isn't made for forums. It works well with the most sites, but forums are clearly the wrong scope, except then you are setting up a testboard.

Seriously Ante, you're STILL at that point for SMF 2.1? That's what makes you vomit in SMF2? GIFs? How about animated GIFs? How about small GIFs that are smaller than their PNG counterpoint? (Yes, there are.) How about you get to work on the real stuff that makes any designer vomit when looking at the SMF files? (There are plenty to choose from. GIF overuse is certainly not at the top of the list...)
I would say it depends. I see that my normal gifs (not animated) are sometimes bigger than the png counterparts. I lol'd about that bug report. But honestly, does that even count as a bug? :hmm:

Well, it's technically natural since that's how it's physically stored.
I see. I'm interested how it is turning out after all :)

Yup. When we say forum, we mean the entire forum thing, and a board is one area where there are topics.
Okay, then we do it the same way. Good to know.

It's already implemented. The whole point of this thread is _how_...
okay... I'm not that familiar with smf at all...
Quote from Arantor on April 22nd, 2011, 03:26 AM
Yeah, the current view is that what's there - making an existing SMF feature more prominent and turned on out of the box - isn't particularly ideal for a number of reasons, thus floating the idea of changing it and making it different and better. We're just not clear on how to make it better yet.
So you mean like a recycle bin with diamonds on it? :hmm:

I think let it be a board is quite strange. I would make some administration option for that and wouldn't let it be a part of the boards[1].
 1. That forum ~ board thing is always irritating. The ones call the whole thing board and then forums and others call it forum and have boards in it.

I "don't know" If i would use it and "I don't care" if it would be implemented. It sounds reasonable either way :)
