And honestly, the Doctor is far worse than House. @Aaron, if Blink doesn't get you into watching Dr Who, nothing will. It's easily one of the best *ever written* in my opinion.
Indeed. I usually recommended both Blink (Doctor-lite) and The Girl In The Fireplace (full of him) to friends who want to pick up the series. :)

ETA: love the quotes! Oh, and in case you misinterpreted the smiley, I really do agree with Neil Gaiman on Blink. :)

There's a big blue box. It's bigger on the inside than the outside. It can go anywhere in space and time, sometimes where it is supposed to go. Something will go wrong, and there's some bloke called The Doctor who'll make it all right because he's awesome. Now sit down, shut up and watch Blink.
Good suggestion at the end of the quote, really. :P

Tea's good, it's soothing, hydrating, and refreshing. I drink a lot of tea.

The Pub / Re: Wedge & SEO

Well, if you're already generating a canonical url for each page, you could compare against that, I suppose... SMF has loads of duplicate urls though -- not sure how much of them you lot have tackled already, but they might result in a few extra (unwanted?) redirects...

Indeed. Would be nice if you'd do a 301 redirect to the proper URL in such cases, btw. :)

Btw I'm very appreciative of anyone taking time to fix my English. I'm an avid learner and I strive for perfection.
Your welcome  ;)
Ah, the irony. ;)

@Aaron> You know, it's just a matter of stripping out the unsafe characters from URLs (#, /, things like that) and leaving out the rest... Since the matching is done in UTF mode, it does leave complex characters in the URL as expected. ;)
Ah, you're keeping the URLs in unicode, then? The most semantically correct option, I guess. :)

The only thing I'd really worry about, is sending proper 301 status codes i.e. redirecting old urls to their respective new location.

Archived fixes / PM settings aren't saving properly
« on April 5th, 2011, 09:37 AM »
Not all PM settings are saved properly when switching to conversation mode. (This is a bug with SMF, too.)

Steps to reproduce:
- create new account on vanilla install
- profile -> PM settings
- Display personal messages as 'a conversation', get an alert
- tick 'Show a popup when I receive new messages.' and 'Save a copy of each personal message in my sent items by default.'
- save settings
- note the display mode being saved, but the checks aren't

On a side note, I think these should be default settings. (I don't think the other display modes should be supported still either, but that's another story.)

UTF8 languages are supported in my pretty URLs implementation. At least it works for Japanese.
I have to ask... to what extend? I mean, hiragana and katakana are relatively trivial (the same goes for hangul in Korean, by the way), but what about kanji? Not only are their readings different depending on context, but also on language (different in Chinese and Korean, for instance -- I figure you already know this, but there's more people reading).

Genuinely interested, really. :)
