I asked my people to take a look at Wedge
« on May 3rd, 2013, 01:31 AM »
The people who help me run my forum. I told them I may want to change in the future, but I want them to check it out for themselves. I can't say for sure, but it's looking like I would jump ship when the time comes. :o

The more the merrier :)

If there are any mods that you're missing, let us know - while I doubt everything will get into the core, I do have a big ol' list of things that will become plugins too ;) So it's entirely possible that things you want to see either already exist or are planned to exist.

I'm not too worried about the mods I have. As I told you once, I don't install many mods. ;) But if I find I really need one I'll mention it.

Oh I know - what options does the karma have? Man I really need Karma to be documented to the person that assigns it. Does the Karma you plan to have go beyond SMF's lack of accountability?

The main thing is the little shock that comes from seeing a new interface and color scheme. That would be mainly for the other members. When I can get a test copy in the future I'll install it in a testing dir and let the staff muck around with it so their shock will be over by the time it's hooked to the main database.

Then we'll deal with the members complaining about this is missing and that is a different color. But of course, they should be wowed by the new toys as an offset.

http://wedge.org/pub/feats/6108/new-revs/msg249201/#msg249201 - note the date.

Likes is built in. A fuller reputation (like the "Advanced Reputation System" mod) is planned.

I'd be surprised if they noticed that much actually missing, realistically, for the simple reason that while a bunch of stuff was taken out, most people wouldn't even have noticed.

I suppose the bracket links might be advantageous but they're only most useful if you have something with consistent normalised pages (like a wiki) to link to.

One of my members just posted this -

An update counter in the browser tab would be nice. Like when I'm on FB or Twitter it will tell me I have X amount of updates in the tab for that site. And update counter for subscribed topics would be nice. Does that make sense?

The former... guess what's already done?

The latter... for the server load it would likely generate, not so smart (Facebook and Twitter don't run on cheap shared hosting unlike Wedge...)
