Oh, I think I should be specific on something...

The Friends group is what it is: a group of our dedicated friends.
While Friends don't have private alpha access by default, requesting access is just a formality. They don't need to fill in the form. They don't even need to test the software thoroughly. They can just try it for fun. All they need to do is, post in this topic and ask for access ;)
Oh can I have access? :D I'd love to try it out, have fun and if anything report back whatever I find! Thanks for the clarification Nao!

Apparently there is an issue with permissions so only Friends can access that gallery.

Nao, Arantor, perhaps the alpha can be emailed to the betatesters? Or if 3gig is too big to email then perhaps email them a link to one of those file sharing sites?
Seems that is just Friends that are betatesters.

I will give Beta access to these groups: WedgeWard (obviously?!), Consultants and Testers.
That's all there is to say... You don't have to subscribe ;)
Friends do have to, though. But they can request to have the Testers group off their group list in the topic pages ;) (I'm not 100% sure I can do it, but I'm sure there's a setting in show_when for that... :P)

@Lorenzo> If you'll ask me, Friends have earned the right to test the alpha even without promising to test it.
And since I'm kinda making the rules for this...
I'd love to help testing but same as Lorenzo, I don't have that much time now but I'm happy to hear that. I'm sure going to do my best to test as much as possible :)

I like both but I prefer the second one mostly because of the shape, the color is nice, more subtle, but the shape is what gets me.

I need to keep up to date those, I've been procrastinating on those for a long time due to time constrains. I'll get to work on those in the next few days!

Yes but the Jump to: is to go anywhere, the linktree is more straightforward. Say you want to go and read more topics at The Pub, would you use the Jump to to get there or the linktree? if you were reading this topic. I'd just use the linktree and if I'm done reading your message and I'm at the bottom of the page I wouldn't go back to the top and then click on The Pub link.

Of course that's a very quick thing to get ride in the Display.template.php.

But I will take you 2 clicks to go to someplace then... if you have the linktree there you can go directly to where you want to go, instead of clicking on the Go Up and then someplace or to reply or mark unread or anything since the links for those things are there.

I think it's a matter of ease for the users, if everything is at the top and you want to reply and you're done reading, then you have go to the top, I'd be bothered if I have to do that all the time to reply.

The go up and go down is going to be enabled by default, check the Finishe! board and you'll see a topic about it. Also were was some talk about the Jump to, to make it better, I can't recall exactly where you can find that topic though.
What do you mean buttons in place of the linktree at the bottom?

@JaZz, sigh... look dude, you know you're not going to hang around here for much longer, so why just don't you gracefully edit the above post, nobody here is insulting you, but if you feel like insulting is because either you don't know what to say or you just don't know what are you talking about.

... why didn't I ask to be a mod before... sigh!

It was linking to the IPB main site. They have no problem with me linking to my current site which is running IPB.
Ok, I see and understand, I had no problem removing the link when Kindred asked me, the only thing I don't like is how they make rules out of thin air whenever they need to. Can I see where the actual rule is written down? for example...

So this is not the first time that a rule just appeared, what I am saying is that a good set of rules should be in place that covers all the possible situations. Maybe that's something wedge should do for the near future.
