Any suggestions on improving my new forum?
« on May 28th, 2014, 05:53 PM »
Hi.

Recently, Nao brought to my attention that my website may seem like a scam site to an outside observer on first glance. For that reason, I have removed the Performance-Enhancing Drugs board, which on second thought was an unnecessary board to begin with.

My website is a longevity forum. Whether you are interested in the topic of longevity or not is beside the point. What I'm asking is how to improve or change the forum to reflect the topic of longevity. This is a brand new forum that I created, so what you will be seeing is what I roughly outlined in a day:  http://longevityforum.com/

The vision I have for it: People not only discuss topics on longevity, but can also log their workouts, martial arts or sports training, diets, etc.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Too many boards and it makes the forum look very much empty, I suggest you have not more than 5 boards for a start and add others as there need arises. Wedge is as clean as need, not much extra work is needed just concentrate on the quality content. Good luck.

I strongly agree.

So, here''s the plan to remove all superfluous boards:

1) Remove Fighting/Martial Arts board (this can easily fit into the Sports/Fitness board)
2) Remove the whole Pharmacology category (smart drugs and anti-aging can fit into the Learning, Memory, Focus board)
3) Remove Supplements board and Herbs & Beverages board (this fits into Food/Diet board)

I'm considering keeping the Research & Technology category - perhaps getting rid of some boards for now, but this category is very important for longevity for sure.

I'm not an expert in medical or fitness field but it doesn't need an expert to know which boards are needed in such forum, I suggest you have two (2) Categories.
* Longivity Category
* General Category

Longivity Category should have boards like
Nutrition Advice
Drugs and our health
Exercise and our daily living.

General Category should have  boards like
General Chat
Announcements and Introduction.

That's my 1 penny.
Good luck.
