Request Feature: Default font and color for posts
« on May 9th, 2011, 04:22 PM »
OK, so here is my humbly presented, meek-mannered feature request...

My forum users have long been requesting the ability to set a default font and color for their posts.  Basically, a setting in their user profile that allows them to set the font and color for everything they post on the forum.  Any chance that something like that might make it into Wedge?

Oh... I'm afraid this would open the doors to Designers' Hell. You don't want your own slice of MySpace, do you?

You should set the font size to a larger one for everyone, instead.

Well, what I'm saying is some people like to post everything in blue font.  Some people prefer their posts to be in purple.  Some people like serif fonts, others prefer sans-serif.  I personally just prefer using whatever the default font is and be happy about it.  :P  However, many of my users simply change all of their posts manually to use the font and color of their choice before posting.

So I just thought it might be nice for them to be able to set that, since they're going to do it anyway.  But I understand your point as well.

I know someone who used to write everything in beige. He's on a very dark theme, so it didn't bother him.. However, the site had multiple themes, and such text was near impossible to read on a white background.

I can see the appeal of this for some sites, honestly though this strikes me as being more an add-on rather than a core feature.
Makes sense to me.

Unfortunately, I am woefully ignorant of the way the WYSIWYG editor works, and my knowledge of PHP is elementary at best, so I'd have no idea where to even begin coding such a thing.  Hopefully some kind soul will see my request and help a brother out, once Wedge is available of course.
