spellcheck.js is a default, unmodified SMF file. It's definitely a false positive.
draft_autosave.js is Pete's draft mod. I can vouch for its quality and safety.

(What exactly can JavaScript do to your computer anyway?)

A brief report from Kaspersky. I am unsure what Javascript could harm too. Well, I just ignore it anyway.  :eheh:

If I open the file http://wedge.org/Themes/default/scripts/draft_autosave.js?rc3 directly from Chrome browser, it alerts nothing.

It mostly depends if the browser has a vulnerability in the JS engine or not as to how far it can go. But if it can get a foothold, session stealing and even password stealing are not that hard to imagine. Plus drive-by malware downloads are Javascript triggered.

That kind of logic sounds like everything that takes up CPU is bloatware and as one software programmer once said "if you're that paranoid about resources, stow the computer away and go outside and play in the sandbox.." Really :^^;:
