Archived fixes / Themes directory is not writable
« on January 24th, 2014, 05:17 PM »
I thought the installer was supposed to take care of directory permissions.  I am getting this warning under manage and install themes.

Warning - you cannot create or install a new theme as your themes directory is not currently writable!

Plugins / Re: Plugin request - Ad Management

So, yeah, I have to find a way to monetize Wedge, otherwise it won't be realistic for me to keep working on it forever. And I don't trust anyone to take the lead of development work.
I totally understand.  It is a tough act to balance when it is a one man show.  May I suggest you look at Woocommerce's monetization model?  They provide a free plugin for Wordpress that provides ecommerce functionality.  They don't make any money on the core product, but they make the money on the themes and plugins that add extra functionality to Woocommerce.  They provide some plugins for free and they charge for others.  They also made it so other developers could make money by selling their own plugins.  That is a win-win scenario since it increases the product functionality, thus its adoption.  That is just a suggestion.

Plugins / Re: Plugin request - Ad Management
« on January 23rd, 2014, 11:56 PM »
Thanks Nao.  The plugin does not make me any money, we use it to recover the costs of hosting the forum.  If I wanted to make money I would activate paid subscriptions, but that is not what I am trying to do.  I am just trying to provide a free forum for my users and so far ads are paying the bill.  I am with you, I don't like Google Ads, but as bad as they are it is the best option out there.  I will be willing to pay for a good ad management plugin just like I paid for Aeva Media.

I got the following errors:

2: array_combine() [<a href='function.array-combine'>function.array-combine</a>]: Both parameters should have at least 1 element

2: array_merge() [<a href='function.array-merge'>function.array-merge</a>]: Argument #3 is not an array

Plugins / Plugin request - Ad Management
« on January 23rd, 2014, 05:54 PM »
I provide a free forum for about 1,700 users.  The only way I can afford that is because of Google Ads, so I would like to request an Ad Management plugin for Wedge.

I ran into the same issue.  I had to go back on the browser and refresh the page to continue the installation.

The Pub / Re: What I LIKE in Wedge!
« on January 23rd, 2014, 05:40 PM »
I installed it yesterday and migrated my current forum to a sandbox site.  I like the notifications, the performance, the fresh look, built-in media support, built-in pretty URLs, the posts count, and how nice it looks on mobile devices.  I know it is only Alpha, but if support for Google Ads was there, I would put it in production today.

1 - How long have you been a SMF user? (Approximately...)
Since February 2010.

2 - If you're planning to use Wedge on a live forum, post its URL.
http://www.dfwshoots.com - Will create a sandbox forum first, if everything works fine we will go live.

3 - How much daily time you think you can devote to testing Wedge. (If you're planning to use it on a live forum, you can also rely on your users to help test it.) Please keep in mind that we'd like to keep the private alpha period relatively short (no more than a couple of weeks would be ideal), so I'm really asking about the next couple of weeks mainly. (Well, at least the first couple of weeks after the initial release.)
1 hour a day in the sandbox, but will go live ASAP with about 1,000 users.

4 - Is there a feature in Wedge that you're most interested in? Something you'll focus your testing on, etc... Or just something you're just excited to use!
