I use Geany. Not an IDE, but it does all I want. My favorite feature is automatically stripping trailing whitespace on save. Only thing I miss is find and replace in multiple files but for that I can fire up N++ under Wine (and it works too)
Great idea to use N++ under Wine. Never thought of that. I need to try it.

I work normally with 2 computers. One with gedit (in Ubuntu) and the second one with N++ (in W7). Mainly because I miss also the "find and replace in multiple files" option in gedit and do that with the W7 computer searching inside the linux one via LAN.

The good things about working with 2 computers is I try to have always a copy of all my work in both (in case one of them have a problem) and also I can edit images with Photoshop instead of Gimp if I need to.

The bad thing about this set-up is I have problems every now and then either with samba (in linux) or the windows firewall, so it's not easy to search into the other computer all the time.

Firing N++ under Wine in the linux computer when there are lan connection problems would sort that out.

If there are important features that require 5.3 that's different.

If that's the case I will go then for 5.3 and keep those important features.

There's nothing that we expressly need 5.3 for in Wedge right now, but that's not to say we have to leave it that way. There's plenty of time to change yet :)
I was answering to this post by Dragoooon:

WePortal will be dissapointed.
It looks to me as it implies WePortal has some features that need 5.3 to work properly.

I would also say 5.3 if Wedge was only for us, but as Nao says we need to think on the potential users.

After all, I only see here geeks answering.  :eheh:

I will never accept working with a hosting company if they don't provide the more up-to-date software, but I am not sure if noobs (more than 90% of the people) even know how to do that or if they have ever thought about it for a minute.

FAQs / [FAQ] Re: Minimum requirements

I'm fu**ed with flash anyway.

Every time I want to see something made with flash I need to open Windows 7

It is OK in Linux 32b but my main computer uses Linux 64b and flash doesn't works well there. Every now and then it works for a while, but as soon as Adobe make an update that's it. Gone again.

What's the point on having computers with so many Gb of RAM if they don't care about 64b systems?

Sorry.

You are right.

I was sorting something else involving sessions and somehow I wrote it instead of cookies. Must be the Alzheimer.

A couple of days ago, for example, playing chess with my 14 years old son, I was too concentrate defending a pawn and forgot completely to defend the queen. Lost the game, of course.

Anyway, what I meant is why he want to get rid of the $_COOKIE inside $_REQUEST instead of sanitize it?

Even leaving only GET and POST he would need to filter it as well to avoid some attacks.

Treat the cookies in a completely separate way?

And what happen with SESSION?

It should be $_REQUEST = $_GET + $_POST + $_SESSION

Or maybe he is doing it on purpose to get rid of the SESSION inside the REQUEST, but why? (thinking out loud)

That's an idea, we can go fishing here in the Mediterranean near my house and then we take the bikes and go to London.

We can even have supper on Paris in the way back.

snoopy-virtual,
just a short note regarding the importer: 1.1.x to wedge is on my roadmap, and I'll start work once I've finished the SMF 2 importer.
Brilliant. I suppose you read that I said somewhere else that I thought nobody had that in their TODO list, so I started to think to do one myself (having 8 forums in 1.1.x for me is a big necessity).

Considering that you are a lot better coder than myself, that's really good news for me.

Anyway I am not very bad with PHP and I know SMF code very well after using it all these years, so if you need a hand when you are ready to start with it give me a shout. Even if it's only to test it. I can assure you we won't run out of test forums.  :eheh:
