Archived fixes / [Fixed] PM gets multiplied
« on March 17th, 2012, 08:49 PM »
I realized that the PM sent to a person is getting multiplied.
I sent just 2 consecutive PM to someone :eheh: and the person got it 15 times (in total)
The person replied me indicating the number of PM
I replied the person back with fact.
I noticed this (check screenshot): Its been indicating that 2 responses to that particular PM was made whereas I sent just one response.
The person received it 5 times :niark: :niark:
Definitely that person might have got annoyed over this, no doubt.
OMG, something is wrong here which needs correction.
:edit: Updated title (Arantor)

« on March 17th, 2012, 03:34 PM »Or am I wasting my time and energy trying to keep you safe from your site being compromised and I should just stop caring about security?
So far my site havent gone with any such situation but chances are high as many still say SMF is having less security (Though I didnt believe much on this)

>_> Houston we have a problem, look at the post above where it has the extra url tag in it.
Again, I didnt try the Likes Pro mod for SMF nor here (dont know 100% of how it is working)
I didnt purchased Likes Pro mod for SMF (all I have seen it first is in AAF forum)
I find it funny that that was what you first thought of in terms of behaviour (since that works exactly how you didn't want it to). But also, did you check out a user's profile on the AAF forum? There's a whole section just on liked posts.
Yay let's copy both XenForo AND Facebook as opposed to seeing if we can't figure out a better way.

Features / Re: Badges and the displaying thereof
« on March 17th, 2012, 02:56 PM »Ok... So I've always wanted a better way to manage badges and have had many thoughts on what I thought I wanted some seemed logical others panned out to be overly complex. Here is where I am now:
I'd like to see a badge management system more like an award system. I like others do not like the idea of creating a ton load of groups just to display the badges. Being able to create a badge and assign to users (maybe it can be optional to assign to an existing group) with the option to display in addition to or in place of primary membergroup badge. Additional options to display below the info in the user area, above signature, or in user profile might be useful as well. I'd also go for being able to set a badge to expire in x days.
If a member is in more than one group that has a badge, maybe display their primary badge as usual and have secondary badges displayed below the info in user area or in their signature.... maybe a setting that a a max of 3 badges can be displayed above the user avatar and all other subsequently displayed in signature on be the info in the user area.
One setting I would love if no other is to hide the group name/title when a badge is available... ie: There is a badge for Moderator so I wouldn't need/want the name of the group displayed as well.
If any of that makes any sense.
I completely agree on this !!!

Well done for misreading what I said. MANY sites use badges. NOT MANY sites use MULTIPLE badges or hybrid badges.Quote But I deny with your view that not many sites use badges... So far I have been registered in forums, there is definitely some or the other badges assigned to special members (Staff, premium, etc)

« on March 17th, 2012, 02:53 PM »That's the thing, I don't know many sites that actually would implement it like that, especially seeing that the implementation would force us to make YOU have badges that are irregular, unusual and hard to make.
Remember: what we implement in the core is not what JUST YOU wants or needs, we have to implement things for everyone to use, and this is too complex for everyone to use as it stands.
an idea just boomed out reading the replies here.... and I know what I provided is one such foolish thing and hard to make or implement.

ok so here is my view on badges concept !!!
Users do wish to have multiple badges assigned to them. But I personally dislike it (for the fact that it will look odd or ugly to display many badges in profile)
But somewhat like combining the badges may sound better. Just an idea boomed out :
Here is a rough figure for multiple badge. (I am not good at graphics) :D
Like, getting equal ratio of all assigned badges to combine one. If two badges are assigned, it will display 50-50 and so on

Features / [Idea] Re: Badges related
« on March 17th, 2012, 02:28 PM »Ah, but they ARE a special membergroup. You cannot change them the way you can others, because they're a catch-all group that only exists if you don't put them in another group, and if you notice, it's never displayed.
Here for instance, your primary group is regular member - but it doesn't show, because there's no badge for it or anything and we have post count badges turned off (which would otherwise be displayed instead)
There's all sorts of odd behaviour in the depths of SMF that we've inherited for these groups.
Though it still isnt much of importance !!!

And how about adding the badge from Forum admin panel itself rather accessing server via FTP and adding those badges manually !!!
This will ease out some burden to admins !!!

Yup, for the forum to be listed at Tapatalk, we need to apply for it and then they add the forum to their database.

Features / [Idea] Re: Badges related
« on March 17th, 2012, 11:35 AM »That's what inherited membergroups are for... i.e. an alias to another membergroup, with its own name and badge. Doesn't require you to play with permissions. It's a SMF feature :P
If we wish to assign nearly 20-30 members with different badges, there will be a long list of membergroups in the panel !!!
In short (They arent a special membergroup)...they are as normal as regular members but just an additional unique badge to them.
Its just an idea, depends on how other users think upon it.... Lets wait for user's opinion on this !!!
