Features / [Idea] Badges related
« on March 17th, 2012, 09:29 AM »
Currently, badges are assigned only to member-groups.
How about assigning a badge to regular member ? I mean, if a member is doing something special to the community and the community needs to greet him/her with providing special badge, its usually required to create a new member-group to assign the badge to them. So, here the permission set should be same as regular users, just the badge should be set unique to them.
The idea was just to avoid making long list of unnecessary member-groups just to assign some members with special badge.

I guess, this will be something unique among other forum software !!!

Features / [Discussion] Attachment Behavior !!!
« on March 17th, 2012, 08:39 AM »
One of the greatest platform ever which will make History - Wedge !!!

I have a suggestion :

I have seen that the attachments are shown in full view. I think, a small thumbnail view with grid alignment would be more better.

What you all guys have to say for the same ?

A post with enough Likes to be able to see how it works:

No kidding :P
Wow, it looks cool :)

Yay, let's copy Facebook >_> We'll see, I don't know yet.
Not intented to copy, but the reason for this to be implemented is that, when a user likes any post of yours in a thread which contains 1000's of posts, you wont be able to find for which post the said user liked it (as it isnt either saved in your total likes count nor anywhere). Atleast the person should know for which post he got the likes.
Again, I didnt try the Likes Pro mod for SMF nor here (dont know 100% of how it is working)
I didnt purchased Likes Pro mod for SMF (all I have seen it first is in AAF forum)
It maybe already some provision there to get notified of your liked post (I dont know how exactly it is working here nor in any SMF forum where the Likes pro mod has been implemented)

I just shared my opinion for the same.

Even I have seen such thing in Xenforo forum software....similar to Facebook notifications

All you had to do was *ask* how it worked, not assume it worked like things you've already seen. I'm not just copying mods already written for SMF and shoving them in, unless I'm the one who wrote the mod originally.
You did a great work :)

There are no solid plans for the first alpha release. I'm HOPING for a first version this spring, but it won't be coming until (1) we fix all of the existing bugs that are found here in the next few weeks, (2) we finish implementing some of the important and complex features, such as topic privacy (which is my current programmer's nightmare.)
Anyway, it's nice to see all the love, so I think Wedge will be successful and I'll be eager to release it rather than not.
Wedge isn't finished yet. It's usable on Wedge.org, but it doesn't mean it's usable on any website for now. That's basically the idea.

Yes, Switch to Full Editor is not Ajax, it actually has the full editor loaded by default and simply hides it until it's needed. Same for the 'More' Smileys button, well, technically it pre-caches the main smileys and if you click More, it'll show you all of the uncached smileys, i.e. it'll load them one by one instead of all at the same time.

Yes, Add Media was given the redirect treatment. :)
(Pete, it's possible that the Add Media button was broken by the template rewrite, but I wouldn't bet on that either. Last time I tested it, about 6 months ago, it was working perfectly. And the rewrites predate that.)
(And please don't say the smiley UI is the same as in SMF... It couldn't be further from the truth, ah ah :p)
Thatz fine Nao... I bet, seeing the developments around and the current layout and design and functionality of wedge, it definitely gonna be the top forum software in near future.
And I guess, before releasing you should assign some beta testers (around some 20-50 beta testers) to test this platform to make sure there isnt anything left out.(just an opinion)

BTW, how about intimating the user via some kind of notification who received a like from a user  ? Like, the user should get an instant notification that "this user has liked your 'this' post"

PS: this isnt anything required, but will prove only a positive environment to engage in the conversation more in forum.

Let's just say this is the continuation of a long standing issue I have where people talk and talk without knowing what the hell they're talking about.

I couldnt see any post where there is multiple likes here...still finding it
So, instead of telling me how you think it should be optimised, why not ask first before telling me how to do my job? (Telling me how it should work, with the implication that it doesn't work like that would be fine... if you'd actually checked and verified that it is not what it should be.) It already does optimise it based on the number of people, though as yet there's no popup because it's still a WIP feature I only added quickly a couple of days ago.

(Going back to the other conversation elsewhere, it is precisely this kind of stuff that makes me think negatively of you, because you're telling me how you think it should work without finding out if in fact it did work like that already.)
okay sorry, forgive me.

It will be a nice feature infact, but should be optimized. Maximum of three user name should be shown in post and other should be under spoiler with text to the number of additional member "likes"
Did you, in fact, TRY IT?

I did like a post by nao in this topic to see how will it look like.

OMG, I fell in love with wedge
Share the love! Post everywhere!
Okay, it will be kinda lackluster until we actually release our package so that everyone can use it on their site, but it's still good to encourage people to Like us on our Facebook page, things like that. :)

The ajax style layout, default theme, Save draft feature, and lots more to the list !!!
Wedge doesn't have much added Ajax (compared to SMF which is already good in that area), but it does have plenty of animations, which kind of gives an Ajax feeling, I suppose that's what you mean ;)

Dont know if this is a bug...just thought to let you guys know about it...when I click on the "upload a media file" button, it just pops out a new window which loads wedge.org homepage.
Technically, easy fix: as mentioned elsewhere, I disabled the Media Gallery until I find some time to import the existing albums. So, the only bug is that the button is still there, when it should obviously be disabled ;)

That's it, fixed ;)
Two lines of code.
I already made my friends aware of wedge platform and about its author Nao and Arantor :)
When will be the first public beta release ?
Yup, when i clicked on "Switch to full editor" in quick reply, it loaded additional functionality in ajax mode. Same with "more" smileys. Its a nice experience :)
and yeah, seeing the result on the page when i clicked on "upload media" button I did realized either it maybe left to set the redirect path or the path is not assigned.
