Nowadays, virtual hosting with HTTPS is possible, meaning you don't need a dedicated IP address.
The only problem is that it is not compatible with Windows XP + IE6.

I've tried a while ago setting up my forum in full forced HTTPS with a certificate signed with a trusted authority. You can get one for free at https://www.startssl.com/

There was a very big turn down : people in forums use hot-links, for pictures. It's bad but they do it. And if you force your forum in HTTPS and the hot-links are HTTP, all navigators will warn you all the time about this being insecure with a mixed HTTP/HTTPS.

This is very annoying and there's nothing we can do about it. People can change this setting in their navigator but you cant expect them to do so.

I went back to HTTP for that single problem.

However, having the logon screen in HTTP is IMO possible, and without Nao doing anything ! You'll just need an HTTPS vhost for the signon and a rewrite rule and redirection on the HTTP vhost for the logon. Then, a redirection to the HTTP host. I'm pretty sure it's doable.

I never managed to get this plugin to work on my forum. However it seems to work perfectly on Wedge.org, I always logon with the Facebook button. Don't know...

Well I can test, perhaps tomorrow... if I get what renaming the file would mean. I guess it is server-sided. I'll try on an old useless forum I'm hosting :angel: (E-T)

Wedge.org with Wndows 8.1 and IE11 is broken on my computer. My forum is not broken though...

Weddge.org and my forum work well from a Windows 7 / IE11 laptop. I'll try again with Windows 8.1 when I'll be back at home on monday.

The latest update (not live here, though!) actually accounts for disabled items. Only 'hits' for now, but in the end, could add more stuff.
Hits are usually not even shown at all, but they used to be enabled, so the old stats (< 2012) still have hits in them. You can look at them, if you want...
 1. It took me years to add Analytics, though... I figured, no need to force a small script to load for everyone, if I'm never looking at these stats. I only installed it because I wanted to know the IE market share here. Still less than 5%, all versions included. Lulz.
Forgot about that when I went from SMF to Wedge. Stupid question : how can I integrate Google Analytics in Wedge ? Thanks !

I use Flyne + Feedly  nowadays. Flyne is perfect because it can work offline, which is much better than Google Reader ever was while taking the metro.

The token way is a good solution :)

Either way, I just wonder on how could we get phone notifications other than email subscription.

Though using a service such as Feedly with your credentials would be a big security issue, it would still be quite useful...
I don't know if there could be a workaround for it ?

I'm trying to find a way to replace Tapatalk SMF notifications on mobiles by something neat.

This topic seems pretty old, does anybody still use RSS or similar features ?

I tried tonight ton convert another forum, Eclipse Totale, which is a dead forum.

The process stopped with :
