Features / Re: Poll mode
« on March 5th, 2012, 08:42 AM »
So it only affects existing poll threads:- from the option's help "Remember this if polls are not working." Maybe in the early days polls were a frequent problem and kept preventing the board / thread from loading / displaying. So this option was written so the admin could turn them off pending a fix, and it has never been removed??
Can't see a use for it now - as said if we decided we didn't want polls anymore we'd do that via permissions and let the existing ones time out or lock them or whatever.

Archived fixes / Re: Fixed SMF bugs

In that case I'm genuinely impressed. I've read all the topics and the new revs thread and it all sounds clever, but being able to bosh through the bugs in such a short period is real. Dare I wonder when SMF 2 would have been released if it were just the two of you on the team?

"Fixed in r...."
Are you fixing all these bugs as you go along or just reserving an r number?

Bug reports / Re: SMF bug 4552 (inconsistencies with memberlist - search)

Is this one related to SMF bug 4880 (Admin / Members / Search for members) or is that fixed already / elsewhere?

Features / Re: Badges and the displaying thereof
« on February 23rd, 2012, 10:00 PM »
Thanks for the info  Looking at it, when they join a group themselves it becomes their primary group - as you say this could be a mod, I don't want this to become a SMF support thread :wow:

We don't use the badges - if fact I don't know how they work :o But we do use the stars feature for their post-count related group.
One annoying thing is that the name of every membergroup that a member is in is displayed under their name on all their posts. I have had to create a group with a blank title to get around this. So my one request would be a membergroup option to display or not to display. (If this is outside the scope of your question then please ignore me :) )

Features / Re: Disallowing edits to posts
« on February 13th, 2012, 03:31 AM »What about giving the mod the choice when they ed it a post if they want to luck it from future author edits instead/in addition to it being a global admin setting?
As for making it default - if the Mod has live627's choice I would make it the default, but otherwise I think you will get too many "bug" reports stating their members cannot edit posts any more ::)
I'm keen to avoid implementing technical solutions when there are more effective people solutions.
(ps I really like the fact you can easily add quotes from two different posts :) )

Plugins / Re: I just had a sad thought.
« on January 18th, 2012, 10:22 AM »...no matter how good our plugin manager is, folks coming from SMF are still going to ask how they parse mods to do installs >_<

"Every problem is an opportunity" :wow:
An opportunity to explain the genius that is Wedge's package manager :)
E.g:
"How do I parse mods / plug-ins to install them?"
Using Wedge you do not need to make code changes. This is because Wedge's Plugin Manager works in a much more advanced way.
Instead of making messy and potentially conflicting code changes, Wedge's php code 'hook points' frequently look to the database for extra code to run.
Plugins therefore do not change the code files - rather they add code to hooks in the the database.
This has the following advantages...

Plugins / Re: Plugin copyrights in the footer
« on January 13th, 2012, 03:40 PM »
Well that's the first time I've looked at / noticed the credits page! Will plugin writers be happy if their only mention is in an unused part of the site?
How about plugins that create their own section e.g. a links directory - should they be allowed a copyright at the bottom of their pages?
Assuming Wedge will have 'themes' will their creators be able to add their copyright? Some writers are very adamant on this!
Back to the credits page, how many of the existing names will you keep on yours?

Features / Re: The calendar
« on October 4th, 2011, 05:58 PM »
My lot use the calendar - it's one of the pluses of SMF. From forum owner perspective my only reservation about it being a plugin is that it may not be kept updated for new Wedge versions and stop working, whereas if it's core and it stopped working it would be a priority bug.

Off-topic / Hello again

After 4 years or research, planning, waiting, waiting and waiting for SMF2, set-up and migration, my club finally switched from Yuku and went live on Monday. It's testament to how bad Yuku had got that nobody has complained and already we are getting more posts and visitors than before.
So I haven't been here much over the past month or so and I'm wondering what happened to the Facebook page, and where you are with releasing a demo and even an alpha. See I'm not much good on the techie discussions and am better suited to the testing :)
