Yes, I was just being sarcastic about the SMF RC experience :)

True, plus you don't have enough bugs to be comparable with RC2. But it's OK I've got it sussed:

All the new features that you want in the final release - if you've started them, commit them; if you haven't then just make some half-arsed effort - you know just a screen with some vague labels and an OK button that gives nonsensical error messages. Commit these too and, in effect, you'll be feature-locked PLUS the software will be full of bugs.

Release this version then fall out with each other.

Thank you.

"I update the footer rev number manually." Sorry - take it as a compliment that we naturally thought it would be automated :)

However it is stubbornly staying at 0 - the server time is 07:30 AM and my PC's clock says 06:30.

I use Opera, but ethankcvds is right it says "(rev 1509)" in the footer.

You're at the SMF RC3 (was it?) stage - still a few bugs but the new skin is included :)

Features / Re: Badges and the displaying thereof

...Looking at it, when they join a group themselves it becomes their primary group - as you say this could be a mod, I don't want this to become a SMF support thread  :wow:
Finally sat down to work this out (in case anyone's interested) and it turns out that if a member group's Visibility is not 'Invisible' then joining that group makes it your primary group. So that's clear :)

Are you still consulting us masses on this? Well just in case here are the results of the Farjo jury....

I think you've written elsewhere that the membergroups could be split into those that control permissions and those that control display (i.e. a badge or stars). For the board I admin we would have both types and one group would be both.

I see that Neo doesn't like the idea however we would have stars for the post-based groups plus badges from one or more groups of which they are members. We'd also like the choice of showing the group name or just the image(s). This is regardless of whether it is their primary group or not.

Visible Boards: for us it would be better to have access and deny here, maybe like the A / D / X elsewhere. This is just the way I set it up - when a member joins he has permission to see forum 1, which redirects to a page with information on how to join that membergroup, or details of its club and who to contact in order to join. When the member joins that group he gets permission to view and enter forum 2, and it would be nice, in a tidy way, if he were no longer able to see forum 1.

As above I don't understand the Visibility setting.

Sorry it took so long to explain. And just to note that my account on aeva.noisen.com gets set to the correct time - I mention this in case it is the same server so it can be ruled out.

Ignore boards is a SMF feature afaik.
I enabled it a couple of days ago. It was disabled before that.
The feature doesn't apply everywhere. I do t think it's applied in the homepage for instance. Recent Posts simply uses the ssi_recentTopics function which is also in SMF so nothing new except for topic privacy support (but no ui for these for now.)
Oh! I will see what I can find in SMF :)

I find it amazing how many features are actually SMF features that no-one really know they were there.
So am I! I spent the years waiting for gold going through all the options to see what they did :lol

Well, my account states it as -1
What happens when you click 'auto detect'?

Nao and other central Europeans cannot test this as they are within the server's time zone, and therefore the offset should be 0.

I've not explained myself.

The correct time is showing. However when I go into Profile / Look & Layout and click 'auto detect' to set the Time Offset I should get a -1 because the UK is an hour behind France, but I get a 0. If I save this, the times are then incorrect for my location. I am hypothesising that there is an error with the auto detect function :)

My Time Offset is -1 and the Current Forum Time is (presumably) CEST i.e. one hour ahead of UK's summer time (BST). However when I click 'auto detect' the -1 turns to 0 and the times of the latest posts are CEST time. I've tried this in Opera and Chrome with the same effect. My PC clock is showing BST.

Anyone else get this?

Features / Recent Posts / Ignore Boards
« on March 25th, 2012, 09:30 PM »
Slow I know but I've just noticed the new Ignore Boards section. This is utterly wicked, and I'll tell you why. The board I admin is for a particular motorcycle, which falls into 4 distinct models. Those with one model are not interested in the other 3. So the club has separate forums for these 4 models, but there's a bunch of common forums too.

So with Wedge each member can select the boards he/she is interested in, and all these threads will be displayed in one place without the need to dip in and out of each of the forums (because who really does that?).

Of course I'm wondering what's under the bonnet - can Recent Posts be tweaked to show more posts than the 5 shown on Wedge's home page, without the need to click the +? Or can it be shown as a (for want of a better expression) 'virtual board' with pages of 20 threads each?

When I go back to my club or other SMF boards this is probably the feature I miss most :)
