Noticed this yesterday - if you search for something, and you get one result or more, across the top of the screen is displayed this:

I like the blue and brown of the 'stripes' in the first, and the new-style W of the third has really grown on me.

Just for your info, my webhosting packages are pretty cheap and one's 5.2.17 and the other is 5.3.10, so I can't see anyone being caught out on 5.2.3.

"At worst, I'll just keep both logos. One will be for wedge.org, the other will represent Wedge."
Or one for the free version and one for the paid

The latest one looks good and sits well on the page. I still like the old one but the new one is looking better with every revision.

Yes, weinf.png is nice. To my eyes the others look like an arrow pointing north east with some odd shapes around it, and then I see the 'W'. With weinf.pnd there is no such ambiguity :)

I guess if developing software can be compared with cooking then adding new features is like baking bread or cakes, whereas fixing bugs is more like cleaning the oven. You can put it off and put it off but if you want a dinner party you want the kitchen to be spotless before the guests arrive!

So when I say "why not release it with a list of known bugs because after all it's only a private release" I know you won't want people to see it with that pile of dirty dishes in the corner. However, if it really is getting you down then maybe the satisfaction of releasing something will provide a bit of sunshine?

Either way: "really great job so far" +1

Even if someone notices the one on the left's W and E, that doesn't necessarily say "Wedge". For either it's just a question of publicity - a certain tick means Nike, a certain green means Harrods... Give it 6 months and even Amazonian tribes will recognise the one on the right's graphic :eheh:

That looks very good. And "How long should redirection topic be in place for" is excellent too :)

Off-topic / Re: French election

The Halal meat thing must have had its effect with Le Pen coming third :(

So they're saying that Hollande is favourite but surely it could go either way given that he's only about 2% ahead with 46% of the voters to choose their second preference?

Very interesting :) Suprising about the Euro as here the economy is always high in the agenda. Which is, perhaps, why successive governments have felt the need to boom it ("no return to boom & bust" is the latest incarnation).

Re: power and motives, there was a discussion about the US election where someone remarked that if you're mad enough to want the job you should be banned from running. You're ambitious to release better software than SMF - does that make you uncaring?

Sadly the halal scandal could happen here too, anything to keep the 'muslims under the bed' thread going. If fact I'm sure I have seen it here but in relation to hospital food.

Today I'm working 7.30am - 8.30pm so would be unable to vote even in Paris. How would I be sure that my nominee votes for who I want to vote for? And what if someone asked me to vote for Thatcher for them? I'd rather have chopped my hand off.

A statistic that gets trotted out every French election is that, by registered French voters, London is France's 6th biggest city :) So we always get a visit from the candidates.

Off-topic / French election

Did you vote? Who did you vote for? Who do you think will win?

What are the main politics surrounding the elections? Presumably a big topic is the Euro crisis? How are both sides trying to capitalise on that? What are the other main topics and are there any topics that are uniquely French?

As a shift worker I would not be able to vote as I am at work all day and the polls close at 8pm. Does this give the result a right-wing bias?
