Features / Re: Calendar
« on November 14th, 2012, 07:46 PM »
As above, and also events that run over a few days.

The ability have events every 3rd Thursday, or first / last Wednesday of the month would be grand.

Views: as well as the current views would be nice to have a list of upcoming eventrs to n days forward, as an option within the calendar and to place elsewhere in the forum e.g. the home page or atop the forum page.

But an OK calendar is better than no calendar :)

Off-topic / Re: Meaning of usernames

I would have thought that the internet was the worst, most confusing place to learn English. So many people use bad grammar but you seem to have it sussed e.g. there their they're, where we're, its it's, who's whose, weather whether - these are all examples where I am starting to get it wrong because I read the internet too much! And I recall you read and write Japanese too?

Have just upgraded and it's looking perfect, will give it a proper bash later.

I don't understand the code stuff but this bit "what it gives the admin, is the ability to browse their website using another set of groups, and be able to go back to admin mode at any time." sounds useful. Having said that I'm long in the tooth enough to distrust anything apart from signing in as a test user.

OK

Ooh, thanks Arantor looks perfect :)

Please see attached. I created a new board and would like it to be visible to everyone who is logged in, but only members of the 'ncaccess' group should be able to enter it.

I registered a new member and (using IE) I can only see the General Discussion board, unless I change the Regular Members option on the right.

Farjo have fun and tell us what you think ;)
Well it's really rather good 8-) The admin panel is so much better, and the search facility has worked really well for me. I like the "New to Wedge?" bit too.

And there are so many new features, I've been looking for three days and feel like I've hardly tested anything.

Many congratulations and well done

I'm really chuffed by the look of this feature because I've got my board set up in a well cack-handed way, and this'll make thinks much simpler.

However, I cannot get it to work. I've un-ticked this option to reveal the extra panel, but unless Regular Members are given permission in this second panel they cannot see the board i.e. they can only see General Discussion.

Am I missing a trick?

If I go into this screen I get three entries in the error log:
Code: [Select]
http://bla.bla/index.php?action=admin;area=membergroups;sa=sett…
 8: Undefined index: group_show_normal
 File: /bla/Sources/ManageMembergroups.php
 Line: 1062
Entries 2 and 3 are ditto bar:
Code: [Select]
8: Undefined index: group_show_post
Line: 1063
and
Code: [Select]
8: Undefined index: group_show_cond
Line: 1064

Presumably related: the "Show group titles under user names?" dropdown has 'Nothing' and 'No groups' and then blank entries for the other groups. (Pity, because it looks like a really cool feature that I'd love to set up :))

Yes that would be much easier, and then I suppose we could pick off other, less obvious differences as we go along :) Having said that we have US members so would want to keep 'american' as-is.

So how would an administrator with, say, a German membership get their language installed? Will it still come as text files or a plugin? Or is that undecided?

Language packs will need to be created, the format is the same as SMF - you dump them inside the default/languages/ folder. You do not need to worry about UTF-8 vs ISO, everything is UTF-8 without the -utf8 suffix. You will also require a flag image.

The plan later on is to allow users to edit language files from inside Wedge (like you can in SMF) but without file changes, and that has no considerations for translators.

I would suggest delaying work on the language file at this time because there are still some big changes to come.
Thank you for the beautifully succinct explanation. I will leave off for now then, ta.

I was gonna contribute a bit by doing an english_british language pack. Now I've read the "Language editing inside Wedge" thread and whilst I barely understood the first posts my comprehension flowed to almost zero as the thread went on.

So my question is do language packs (or Wedge equivalent) need to be created and if so in what format?
