Features / Re: Poll enhancements
« on May 30th, 2013, 08:32 PM »
Thinking about it more, even I don't understand it! Each month I run a points-poll and I have it written down what numbers go where to set it correctly.

* Multiple questions per poll
I'm confused - does this mean more than one poll per post?

* Voting with points rather than individual votes (e.g. having 5 points to distribute between 3 answers)
We use these, it's a plugin. Actually, thinking about it I'm the only one who does, so maybe the interface is a bit complex?

Officially, linking here from That Other Place is still officially verboten, but if there's a useful post here, then it's worth linking ;)
How about in this board:
"Site Comments, Issues and Concerns
Comments on this slick site? Post them here. (SMF bugs should be reported in Bug Reports.)"
"Dear Mr Sm.org Administrator, have you considered upgrading this forum to Wedge? It is based on SMF but has more features and fewer bugs :)"

The Pub / Re: Not using version numbers as such
« on May 29th, 2013, 05:00 AM »
How will you organise the giving of names i.e. will every group of versions begin with the same letter, or will it be random?
e.g. v1.0 Aaron, v1.0.1 Andrew, v1.1 Brian, v1.2 Charlie. Will they be alphabetical within versions i.e. Aaron before Andrew.

Mythical figures, old gods, sci-fi references, plantes, stars have all been done to death - just ask any administrator what their servers are named! How about place names? Loads of towns and villages in UK and France on their own, so you'd never run out.

But overall a good idea worth trying.

"You cannot remove English" Aha I see.

Installing all languages seems like a good idea. It cannot be easy for non-English speakers to be scrabbling around for the instructions, the language file itself and then the admin options. ¿Qué loco!

I wonder if anyone has "user selectable support" switched off? Apart from UKIP  ;) But apart from zenophobia I cannot think of a reason to disable it.

Looks good and very simple to use

Is the "Enable user-selectable language support" option and the "Available" column mutually exclusive?

"Question: if you can tick both allow and deny, which would logically take precedence? What would you expect it to do if you selected both?"
I would expect it to deny, as deny overrides all allows.

It's like a night club within which are many parties, all with their own invite list. If your name's on a list then you can get into the club. If your name is not on a list it means nothing - your name could be on a different list or it may be on none. However if you've been banned from the club then you won't get entry no matter how many lists your name's on.

So I agree with you getting rid of Disallow. Disallow is 1. not distinct enough to Deny to be clear and 2. misleading, because it doesn't disallow, it just doesn't allow. It's neutral, it does nothing.

"Well, it all came about because of the very fact that Disallow and Deny seem awfully close together. Hell, even just renaming it to Yes/No/Never would be an improvement."
Essentially what you have with your screen is Yes/Never/Neither - the latter being when both are unticked, and it's a truer representation of what's actually going on.

All your screen really needs is a good explanation at the top. And people who've never before seen Deny will assume it's new Wedge functionality :)

Features / Re: Message icons, some proposed changes
« on March 30th, 2013, 12:20 PM »
Your screen looks better: people will see the message icons and think "Oh! I can pick an icon here!", whereas as it is people notice the dropdown less.

"Drop down takes less space." the space between the icons could be reduced so that they all fit onto the one line, and then paper clip wouldn't be there.

I don't think that's the same problem. He's saying that he hits the Choose button and nothing happens - just that the "whole button" is highlighted. It's an issue first pointed out on our SMF site using Aeva2.

Wait, you're talking about the gallery?
Yes - uploading a file from within a post such that you get an SMG code within your post.

Regular Media upload = uses HTML, should work..?
This is when making a post and clicking the Media icon to the left of the Mona Lisa. I don't have a smart phone so unfortunately  cannot do multiple testing.

One of our members is looking at the alpha Wedge and reports that he cannot upload a file using the Media button. He says:

"I'm having problems using android on my galaxyS3 jellybean. Clicking the icon opens another window with buttons to choose file. However when clicking the link the whole button highlights and then does nothing to allow file select."

There's not much about our old forum that I miss, but here's how they display post icons (sorry, this is the least-worst example I can find).

Do the smilies' tool-tips have various languages? E.g  this one's is "Hypocrite" and if so could the post icons have tips in the same way.

Cannot comment on the CSS / SSI

If you boys need any more help with your programming just ask  :rotfl:

Thanks for fixing :thanks:

:edit: ps is there any chance of getting a new copy of Class-Media.php? I would like to check the changes I am going to make to my SMF installation (I am far from a programmer!).
