Off-topic / Re: How to piss Arantor off, part 2: take the view that he's a negative person

He asked it for a refund because he couldn't get it to work on older Symbian phones and newer ones had problems. Although I admit that's not really a stupid reason, but still....

And then we get gems like this: http://anotheradminforum.com/forum-management/custom-footer-info/

Plugins / Re: Settings page integration

I'd simply define it as $txt[$key . '_subtxt'] mostly because then it goes with other langaage strings and can be translated at one place.

« on March 12th, 2012, 02:12 PM »That seems a big drastic seeing how there's absolutely no need to do anything extra in core for help popup strings.

« on March 12th, 2012, 01:52 PM »Strikes me that there's two ways to do it, either by checking for $txt[$current_setting . '_subtext'] and just setting subtext to that if found, or manually specifying it as a parameter. The former would be quicker and likely easier to use but the latter would be clearer how the answer is derived.
Which would you prefer to use? (Remember that you can have help text if you so desire, though it's not immediately obvious how... if you declare $helptxt[$current_setting] and then have it so your language file is also loaded by the lang_help hook, it should work (though I haven't tested to be sure)

Features / Re: Some admin menu changes
« on March 5th, 2012, 03:52 PM »
I always find wizard type things to be helpful, something like "create your first category" and then create your first board. Perhaps an interactive tour of the posting/board handling as well along with management. Also, something like "If you want to do x, you can go at y".
As far as the menu goes, I like the proposed ideas. It can use some re-organising.
Just me 2M$.

Features / Re: Disallowing edits to posts
« on February 12th, 2012, 07:25 PM »True enough. However, I don't want to get into that debate because you risk having to cope with not 3 states (unlocked, soft lock, hard lock) but 5 (unlocked, user lock, mod lock, global mod lock, admin lock) and you can just bet some people will want even more complex solutions where they have staff who are in group x but not group y etc... far better to keep it simple.Quote But a mod can overwrite a global moderator's lock, can't they?
Also, I'm not convinced that for something like lock or pin that you need to apply a technical/logistical solution for what is ultimately a non-technical problem - if you have a moderator who keeps screwing around, remove them from being a moderator.

« on February 12th, 2012, 07:17 PM »Well, that part is sort of the idea, though I'm not sure what else you'd need to do (since locks are also similarly covered; there is an internal difference between a non-moderator locking their own topic and a moderator lock, and the non mod cannot override the mod lock)

I like it. Expanding upon the said idea, I've always wanted a hierarchy type system. So that a low life cannot overwrite the actions of a admin or higher moderator.

The Pub / Re: Wap is that?
« on February 11th, 2012, 12:42 PM »I use WAP2 also with my iPhone.. it loads pages instantly! :)Quote from Dragooon on February 11th, 2012, 06:56 AM My theme was never intended to replace WAP layout, it's not meant for those phones and would probably look horrible. never tried, so not too sure.Quote from MultiformeIngegno on February 10th, 2012, 08:29 PM I'd say 'remove it' if you include the Dragooon's mobile theme..

(My little finger is telling me that Google Code-In becomes much easier to handle by using the Google search engine, just like any sane person would do... :P)
