Features / Re: Disable animation on mobile devices
« on May 21st, 2012, 04:39 PM »
iOS5 is not that much better when it comes to handling animations via iterations, when compared to desktops anyway. It's excellent in handling CSS3 animations though, but they'll require some work to implement (unless someone has already done that)

Well not sure how you'd achieve this, but wrap the text area around the entire post content(Make it fade from behind) and then resize it?

Features / Disable animation on mobile devices

I'm fairly sure jQuery has a global turn of animation switch, and I think it should be enabled for mobile devices since they cannot really handle animations which are run via iteration.

This is a post to test the animation
Ideally the textbox should just appear behind the text without it fading, but it still looks good.

Gonna go with Linode simply because I'm liking their community support. Plus they're in English so I'll have less trouble with communicating I guess[1].Quote from Arantor on May 19th, 2012, 05:54 PM What do you use for mailserver?
I'm using Ubuntu server, no GUI (doing it all via WinSCP and PuTTY), but you get a choice of distros to play with.
Referral code is c06bda2f5288f410e1afc05cdfd4046616eae8fc thanks :)
I should also note that Linode does have multiple DCs across the world to work with, so I have my main Linode in Dallas and I have a secondary one for specific purposes in London.

They do, but it's on top of the normal price of the VPS; 512 plan is an extra $5/month, 768 plan is extra $7.50 and 1024 is extra $10 per month. http://http://www.linode.com/backups/ has their backup setup, you might find it's better to roll your own setup rather than paying for theirs, but it's up to you.
473
Currently I got 768MB RAM, 25GB storage and 500GB bandwidth which is an overkill. 80% of the disk space I use is for the backups of the server itself :P, 768MB RAM is hardly used. It was useful when I had JIRA running but that was unnecessary. I'll check out Linode, do they have a backup service?

Well, I'd normally recommend Linode but it doesn't come with cPanel out of the box. You certainly can add cPanel to it but I find that it's about as easy to configure by hand (and you can then do things you wouldn't normally be able to do in cPanel)
Linode also has a range of plans, but I'm not sure what sort of specs you're looking for, but note that cPanel is licensed per server and weighs in at $450 or so a year for that server - so any host offering it is likely to be reasonably expensive.

I'm looking into moving hosts and would like to know of any recommendations you might have. I'm currently paying 101.5$/quarter so that's about 33.6$/month and would like to stay in this price range, preferable less. I really don't have any heavy requirements, just that I need a good full fledged VPS with a cPanel license which has a reliable uptime and good support (in case, not that I need a lot of support). The reason I'm moving is because currently the VPS is giving me a lot of headaches and I could use a new host.

(And I've pretty much stopped working on AeMe so it's not like I'd be jealous or anything.)

I guess the initial album addition interface can be made less overwhelming a bit by making secondary items (those which have a plausible default) collapsed by default.Quote Actually Gallery 2 has a lot of control when it comes to permission, it even has per-item permissions AFAIK. Although I think the user albums are more limited than AeMe, it's been a while since I had a look at either Gallery 2 or Gallery 3. G3 is more limited than G2 since they stripped a lot of features out for the sake of simplicity (but it's quite prettier)
You realise that it isn't exactly fair to compare Gallery and Aeva, right? Aeva is designed to handle a lot of flexibility in per-user per-album permissions so that I myself can decide who can see my content, and not just pictures. I can, as I have on one site, set it up so pictures in my albums are visible to all but downloads are only for limited users. I doubt you can as readily do the same in Gallery, if it's even possible.

Click the Like button if you like better than the old style, lol, it's a mini-poll in itself ;)
:edit: Added screenshots of the 'old' style. Also, do tell me if it doesn't work in a browser... Only tested on Opera 11.64.
