*nods* I don't see us removing either but if we had to choose, I'd remove the jump box long before I'd remove the lower linktree.

Those last two are nice. Though I kind of liked the brown colour.

If only I had an idea I'd give logo-making a try myself.

Then perhaps you should take a break too :P

Especially since for session support it requires other changes to how sessions are handled ;)

Though there's no real reason why we couldn't in those circumstances do something imaginative like pushing sessions into a MEMORY table in MySQL which has most of the same benefit (though doesn't shard it across multiple servers and is still going to be slower than memcache, but not nearly as slow as a normal table)

I have quite a few topics unread right now :/ Had to go back to bed, feeling so ill this morning.

No, it's not, it is a shade more complex in terms of how you set PECL up. The default 'old' extension is trivial to set up, the newer one less so, and most hosts that support memcache do not have the new one set up.

In fact, PECL generally is a pain in the arse to use.

Not in the core, simply because most users aren't going to be running it. I see us adding it as a plugin of some description though.

It might even be more like a dollar per 50 or something ridiculous. Wage equality is a long way away.

Stallman is very enthusiastic about his stance. I think he's actually a bit wrong in some respects (read the entire debate that post refers to, and you realise that he's actually so far down his line of thought he's actually blind to certain logical arguments)

I may be an evangelist at times for certain things but this guy makes me look tame.

Experience tells me that SEO services spam is actually human driven, and no amount of CAPTCHAs or questions can defeat that.

I actually had an interview with them, and as for their MySQL knowledge, half of the Percona core team actually wrote the best (IMHO) book on High Performance MySQL.

It should be pretty much a drop in replacement for MySQL.

I'll give G+ their dues, the overall implementation of G+ is pretty solid in terms of making it clear who can see what. The fact that the Googleplex drags the kitchen sink into it is a separate problem entirely.

Not quite the same way. A list in FB is a mutual thing because the relationship defined is two way - on G+ you can set up a list of people without having to explicitly follow them.

It's because you're at the bottom of a thread and want to go back to the previous page and for most people that's going to be nearer than pressing the back button.

(Unless like me they have a mouse with a back button just by the thumb ;))

More and more transparent that we don't have much privacy going forward. People don't sign up to social sites to have every aspect of their social lives being joined together.
