I somehow don't think it's going to become a plugin.
It was a requirement for migrating this site to Wedge (because it's actively used here) but it might end up being a path for reposting to, say, Twitter from the forum.

« on November 16th, 2011, 01:17 AM »Which is (probably) why we need to enable this only for items in an 'attachments' album, i.e. if the user chooses to post in another album, the item will use the album's permissions, while if they post in the general attachment album, it'll use the post's permissions and a reprint won't be allowed in another post.
If it's tied to visibility behind the scenes so that users don't have to worry about it, they can just repost the image without any concern, e.g. through whatever equivalent of the smg tag we end up with. That way, it's no longer tied to the *topic* as it currently is (with little good reason, IMO)
The idea, primarily, is to make it as easy as possible to get files onto a post with as little effort as practical - it being in the gallery makes it easier to reuse later.

That's based on whatever's on the demo site as of earlier today, which IIRC has 1164 on it? (Which is for all intents and purposes, is the latest rev.)

Also, sidebar behaviour still not great on iPad. Haven't tried in portrait yet but can't imagine it would be much different.
The sidebar collapses to the left side as expected but the only way to trigger it being visible is to tap in the area where the thought edit option is, which forces it to be visible, and it doesn't perform any auto collapse after.

Btw, Aaron, you should totally get over here next summer. Long brown coat, Converse... fairly sure you know the drill ;)

That's precisely the point: while normally a gallery item is tied to the album it was in, I figure that if you attach an item to a post, it should use the permissions of that post, but there's no reason it has to advertise it to the user, it should "just work", and we can display a footnote somewhere on the item to indicate who can see it if needed.

The amount of cloud cover and crappy weather in this country, it's almost not worth the effort.
Besides, at 28, I feel a bit old to be cavorting outside like someone less than half my age...

What about jumpto?
The third is my current fave still but it fails to sync disabled states between it's own ui and the iOS ui. It's strange.
Although we don't really use disabled states anyway.
Also the ui for iOS needs a HTML to text fallback.
In any case these will all require a rewrite. That's why I only choose MIT stuff.

Which means it sounds like it'd coincide with how long Matt Smith will probably stay in the role... curious.

The criteria for me in order is: working correctly, having a suitable fallback position for keyboard/accessibility cases, looking nice, size.
Seems like most of the above have issues with the first two.

! Changes to Content-Disposition header. IE 9 didn't like the old code (because *they* changed it from how IE8 did it) and the newer code, well, it looks like other browsers hated it too, so I've come up with something that seems to work for everyone. I don't have (actual) IE8 or Safari to test it on but all signs suggest it should have resolved the problem. (Dlattach.php)

« on November 14th, 2011, 10:52 PM »I apologize for assuming bad keyboard ergonomics were the cause of the problem. I was speaking out of ignorance.
Mind you, my old chiropractor, before he left, was awesome. He didn't just treat people, he actually did spinal adjustments on dogs too. Then he left. >_<
As for me, I've been a computer user and student of ergonomics long enough to know by now what works and what does, to the point of spending £150 on a desk and almost £400 on a chair. It also helps that at one point in my old career, I was a health & safety assessor, temporarily, within the company's facilities department.[1]
The part about getting outdoors, tending to your health, eating properly, and making every effort to sleep properly -- that still applies, and is the same advice I give to my kids. Take care, both of you.
But, as I've privately opined lately, as much as I'm still busy as heck, I'm also consciously taking a break by playing games a lot more than I used to. The last thing I need is me burning out. I've been burned out before, took a lot to rekindle the flame.
| 1. | Long story, but although it was technically a demotion after a big company fuck-up which was at least partly my fault, I got moved to facilities. Best two months I had in the 5 years I was there, as it turned out. I learned so much that I still make use of now, several years on. |

There's been rumour of a Hollywood-backed Doctor Who movie for years, it does the rounds about this time every year (between the end of a season and the gap before the Christmas special)
Last year the rumour was Matt Smith would do it if he had time but that Johnny Depp was hotly placed for the role. Personally, I think it'd work well enough with him.
Anyway, I think the continuity angle is a problem; don't mention the Cushing films to rabid fanbois, even if you happen to mention Bernard Cribbins.[1]
Paul McGann might be up for it, but that raises the problem of continuity (it'd have to be about the Time War) and that he's said he'll do it only if he doesn't have to wear a wig - and he has short hair now.
The real question for me isn't whether they should or not, I'd honestly like to see such an endeavour, however it needs to be the right actor, the right writing team behind them, the right script and not screw up continuity too badly. Parallel universe Doctor and Rose maybe, or something similar in a parallel universe since you can't screw those up too badly...

| 1. | Or depending on where you go, NEVER mention Bernard Cribbins at all except for acknowledging that he was Wilf. For some fans, the Cushing films are like the second and third Matrix films, they didn't happen. |

You don't think I didn't already have it on pre-order? :P Only I preordered the UK version, not the US version... ;)
