*shrug* If the extra divs are added through the plugin, run with it. I think it adds serious branding and consistency potential to use custom scrollbars.

The second case is actually my preference. I've yet to see a combobox work well when it's used for anything other than the actual original purpose for a combobox.[1]
| 1. | That is to say, if it's used to pick an item or provide space for a user to enter their own. It is after all, a combination text and select box, hence the name. The textual element is not designed to make selection easier, but for free format. |

It's going to be unnatural, you're used to point and click, not keyboard navigation... Though I'll try and check it out as well if it's committed before Wednesday morning before I'm cast into purgatory (visiting the in-laws) for a week.

I know too little about ARIA in general, however what's the behaviour with normal selectboxes?

Oh, SMF has one but it's... um... not the most helpful. Check out Profile > Notifications if you want to see the full horror.
I like that, it has a sense of humour :)

I think it depends on the site and whether it's totally manually set up, or has some automated award facilities, e.g. auto-award at given post counts and so on.

Yeah, but they all look a bit different :P
I deliberately emulated the style of Steam's in my own project.

In Steam's case it's per game rather than per profile, but Steam's screen looks like the attached.
(No, I'm not attaching screenshots of the one I've come up with.)

Eh, the site I'm allegedly working on at present (hence I have time, hahahahhahhaahahahah) has its own achievement system and somewhat not unintentionally, it resembles like Steam's achievement screen.
An award system of some kind was always on the cards to be implemented (I vaguely remember Live saying that he's doing one) but I at least haven't gotten round to it yet. To me there's at least one dependency to be figured out yet.

Not built in we don't.
But a plugin, certainly.
