Features / Re: New revs - Public comments
« on December 30th, 2011, 02:43 PM »Okay, so, to elaborate: I don't know *why* $sane_path is set at all. I suspect that Pete had issues with his plugins on his local install. But, OTOH, I also have no idea how this has any influence on $here, which is why I don't feel comfortable tackling this problem. So, maybe my 'fix' would be just a quick hack that needs to be removed later, but at least it wouldn't break anything...
Oh, I remember now why I did it. When doing error reporting, and using the path of the file-causing-error for discovery purposes, debug_backtrace() always returns it with / even if on Windows, so I made it so it was stored up front with that in.
Yes, I'm sorry that I haven't committed much, but the last few months have been shitty for me (death of two family members in six months, another family member with dementia), and given that right now I'm trying to prevent a breakdown of a 10 year relationship which may or may not end up with me splitting up with my partner (which will entail me moving out, selling my house and finding somewhere to live etc.)... plus stuff going on with my consulting clients, you can probably imagine that it's not exactly the best time for me to be doing anything.
There is a part of me that thinks I should probably resign at this point, actually, and clear the way for someone who can properly devote time and energy to this project. Especially because of comments like this, makes me wonder if I'm really not suited to doing this sort of thing anyway.

The problem with auto fixing is that you can actually make things so much worse.

In a way that quote is the reason for Christmas being the way it is for kids, I guess...

Can't boycott what I don't use ;)
But yes, these two bills are scary and of the people I've talked to, no-one seems that bothered because they believe in the law to require burden of proof (like DMCA does) except they don't get it when I explain that the law isn't set up to do so, but essentially give arbitrary industries the arbitrary ability to censor, namely the MPAA and RIAA, to protect their outdated and obsolete business models.
If it goes through as it stands, we can safely expect a fractured internet, very likely there will end up having a US divide such that the EU etc will just turn inward and look to ignore US domains. Might also see an end to .com's dominance outside the US.

Yeah, I suppose I was seeing it as a regular episode and not so much a Christmas episode but it works very nicely as a Christmas episode :)

So, the Christmas special. Sorry to say that it was quite average for a Moffat story, kind of predictable in more than one way, but the ending redeemed it.
Also, two mentions of prior continuity other than the ending, I see Moffat pays attention.

Also one of the Doctor's finest one-liners yet.

That the sonic screwdriver doesn't work on wood, and that a lady tree had a bit of a thing for him, right back to The End of the World.
Also one of the Doctor's finest one-liners yet.
Having been asked what to do, "Do what I do, hold on and make it look like it's part of a plan!"

There is no reason to consider that, if only because it shouldn't occur, and if it's being done, it'll misbehave whatever happens anyway.

I use it too, but its usefulness is diminished with convo mode, as compared to unlabelled.
Default labels would be quite good but it really depends whether it would be more useful spun as folders or Gmail like tags, which is really what it's closer to.

Very possibly, I'm not entirely sure how well it works, most don't even know it's there...

Only because so much of SMF used selectboxes in interesting and inconsistent ways. It'll be worth fixing them.

It's the sort of thing that does get referenced; more than one person noted that the Dream Lord is a continuation of sorts of the Valeyard.

Yes, it's 14 episodes, however it's 14 episodes of 25 (not 45) minutes, and it's still encompassing 3 serials as it does so.

It was originally more than that, I actually set up the account so that I could keep an eye on their bug tracker for the purposes of fixing issues in WedgeDesk.
Oh, and he has actually already screwed something up. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that the VERY LINE ABOVE THE ONE HE EDITED was a comment expressly suggesting not to do exactly what he did.
The fact that most of the bugs that are in SD at present are in WD and more than one person has said to me that they have, and I quote one of them, "no faith in them ever being fixed", so when I'm fixing them in WD I might as well (generally) fix them in SD as well at the same time.
You know it's sad when I'm STILL able to fix crap faster than one of their two devs, the other just doesn't have the time to really develop it.
There's nothing subconscious about it, it's only because I've done things for WD that I even worry about SD any more - I wouldn't be touching SD if it weren't for WD.
But I think in 2012, I really need to reconsider my time, because I'm just trying to cope with so much and it's causing me to burn time on everything else, to the point where I'm just chasing my own tail and getting more stressed; I've been more ill in the last month due to stress than I have in years...
To put it in context, my hair started to go grey 5 years ago when due to a change in workplace stuff, I got much more stressed, and over 2011, I'd started to actually reverse that trend through lower stress generally in my life - up until the autumn when crap after crap just came my way and I'm going grey again. I'm only fucking 28 and going grey out of stress. I seriously need to rethink my life, I'm fairly sure I'd end up without having indigestion several times each fucking day out of it.
