I wouldn't work constantly, but turn in the standard 40 hours a week, and at the time I sn't actvely employed so the money would have been handy...

Yup, that was before taxes, but he went for "cheaper" offers...

If you did it with custom markup, sure it would break something. But it should be doable just with styling IIRC, in which case it shouldn't be able to break anything.

(Mind you, I have in one project actually implemented totally manual checkboxes before now, wasn't that much work and worked really well, IMO, better than using actual checkbox elements at least, heh. But I specifically didn't have to care about accessibility or anything like that)

Are you trying to say that you don't want the credits page to list the forum moderators, either...?
There's one important difference that comes into play. Generally, forum admins/moderators will have a badge. Gallery moderators may or may not have a badge. So you may be making them better known than they might otherwise.

If you're going to credit their work, you'll give them a badge and we'll figure out something to make them visible, but if you don't want to give them a badge because it's a stealth role (and that does happen), or because a large number of people have the power to approve, it makes the credits page bigger - and probably slower, too.

I'm tempted to suggest we don't list anyone on there and have a proper staff page with contact options but I don't really want that in the core (despite the fact that, apparently, other forum systems do have this as core)

I see. You'd feel more comfortable if I removed it myself, right?
I'd certainly be comfortable if you did it - but I was working myself towards me doing it, I just had to do that as interim step, as it were.

If we're going to display it, yes. Otherwise, no need to capture it.
I think it'd be nice to capture and display it.

OTOH -- could be made even simpler... Since Wedge gets a list of monthly stats, why not simply give the first month of activity in the first stats area...? It's something that's already calculated, innit? Or maybe it's just the year... Not sure.
Doesn't really work for imports unless the importer goes back and fills in some of that data...

Well, the current logo in the sidebar and footer works pretty well for me on all counts... But if we're going to go through the list...

The two-tone in bomiab works for me.

centered relative to the logo works pretty well for me.

Of the logo itself, bomiab, I think is my favourite (and mi9 is just a smaller version, no?)

Just overflowing looks good, or nicely inset - either go over the edge or have a decent border, and I think I'd rather have something overflowing.

I just had an amusing aside drawn to my attention.

I did a project several years ago which attracted a little attention in certain quarters and I got some kudos out of it in consequence. Long story, rather not dredge the names up because some of it is a touch embarrassing. But it's relevant because a few months after I wound down my involvement with it, one of the people I had worked with was putting out a contract for tender.

Now, this would have been mid-late 2009 or so that this happened, and I applied knowing full well that the person concerned liked my previous work, so I totalled up what I thought it would have cost me to build in terms of time/labour, and knowing that I was building it on top of SMF, as part of my pitch I explained how I'd build it and why it would save some serious time and effort (and SMF 2.0 was a strong base, the amount of customised code was substantial but not unmaintainably so) and submitted the bid. IIRC, I pitched it at about $3000 to build. It was a big job, because of all the fun requirements that went into it but that I didn't think $3k was unreasonable for the work load and support that would come into it - that would be for all the base dev (2 months full time, my estimate was) plus a year's support and extensions were generally free in that time.

About a week later, I heard that he'd picked a programmer and work began. Scroll forward to 2012. There's been at least three separate attempts to launch said site, one of which actually got as far as beta (the first alpha was August 2010, the first beta June 2011) - but they're rewinding that. There's been at least 4 'rock star programmers', all of which have been dispensed with, and by all accounts, starting over AGAIN.

I can't help but turn a wry smile. Yes, $3k is a lot of money, but that was for the 2 months I was predicting as a build time (even on top of SMF) but he'd have gotten the site launched by now. Probably would have gotten it launched back in 2009, too. But that's how things go, I guess.

You know, in the first part of the page...
Well, it would normally only be shown to people who have access to the AeMe admin or moderate panels, i.e. people who can already see it anyway, so it doesn't need to be there. But somewhere where it lists who can approve would be useful - I'm just not keen on it being publicly visible (which it would be in the credits page)... perhaps in the Media permissions page?

I did say I didn't want to keep the AeMe copyright stuff.
I know, but when I first removed it, it somehow felt like it had devalued the work that had been put in, you know? I'm just a bit fussy about making sure people get due recognition.

This could go into the Stats page...
Well, it would be trivial enough to capture the date on install and push it into settings rather than amSettings and then display it there. Heck, it's not as if forum age is something people don't always want to see, it's a mod that's done the rounds a few times.

Bleugh, brain has turned to mush from personal stuff >_< Can't figure out what's the best on this.

No, that's not what I mean - the select box actively looks different to what you get with the standard UI of your browser+operating system, and looks better for it, while the checkboxes/radio buttons are whatever you get served as standard, which varies from browser to browser and OS to OS. It just occurred to me it might be nice to put an image in for them (since IIRC it should be possible to do in CSS) instead of the stock ones, might give themers something nice to play with at least.

On a related note, if we're styling selectboxes, would we not want to custom style checkboxes and radio buttons as well?

@ Observed in passing, media moderation area doesn't set a page title, and doesn't seem to be related to these edits.

OK so I've removed almost all the code relating to the about page, but there is one piece of information in there that isn't anywhere else at present: the list of who can manage/moderate the gallery (and the gallery moderation page reuses the same code/template)

So for the moment I'm just leaving that present and removing the rest of the stuff pending figuring out where to put it.

Oh, and the 'installed on' date is a bystander in this too. Either we should keep it and make it a general setting (and put it in the admin panel more broadly) or we should drop it entirely.

OK, guess it's time to look at these and comment :P

bomi9 and bomiab are nice, no problems with the fonts either (bomiab is better in that respect)

bomibb does give me Nike vibes <_<

bomice, I like the background particularly, I think it works well, but not as well as the shapes in 9 and ab.

The green text doesn't work with the blue background in bomide, and the same thing with the shapes as bomice.

bomige has the same issues with bomide, but with the smaller writing, the impact of the green vs blue is actually somehow more apparent.

I like the contrasting outline in bomihe, but same as previous comments re shapes.

bomiie resolves the issue with the background vs the green writing, but the white feels a bit harsh even compared to the background of the page it's on.

bomije doesn't have the harshness but I think the border gave it something.

As for bomike, I'm not sure about the shapes, the blue looks too insubstantial and like it's out of place.

* Arantor is just fussy. Knows what he likes and doesn't like but can't actually create anything out of it.

What I might as well do, actually, is move both the changelogs to the attic with the formatting code ;)
