« on February 27th, 2012, 12:20 AM »Icons? Good idea.
Want to do it? It's easy
Prefer not to say: in 95% of cases it means I'm a woman and I'm taken so don't fuck with me. I'd rather avoid this choice

I don't think it's *that* important but I figured I show ask. We did it in SimpleDesk, but we did it throughout SD rather than just the admin area.

Alternatively, how about "Prefer not to say" as the default?
(And, can we add the male/female icons via CSS like is done elsewhere? No sense having a fancy selectbox if it isn't using it to potential)

Sounds more like plugin material though if we're going to do that, at least then we can fold it into core rather than having something of a useless feature in core that has to be removed later ;)

@Norodo, sure, I can well imagine. I just wondered if there was any mileage at all in the idea, because I'm sure we can work on limiting abuse.
@Dr Deejay - that might work but I have a further idea.
Suppose once a post had been reported, and subsequently moderated/reapproved, it got a 'protected' flag to protect it from being reported again, and editing would naturally clear that flag.
That way, you can only suppress a post once, though there's nothing to stop you reporting every post made by a member - just as there isn't now. The only difference is that if you do, you're just going to annoy the moderators who may respond by limiting your ability to report posts anyway...

Yeah, I had thought of that, didn't really have a good way to deal with it - but there's nothing to prevent that right now from causing moderators trouble as it is.

Which is of course the point ;)
All the stuff I've been doing with the ACP overhaul is to try and bring some sense of order to the chaos. There's still a lot of mess in there - like the fact that the PM settings are now duplicated (and I should remove the other copies because it skews the search too), but it is definitely a bit more organised than before :)

Random oddity - it looks a bit weird on the gender selector in the profile area, seeing how there's only three options, the first is blank, so it collapses the width of the selectbox to fit.

It occurs to me that we could do something quite interesting with this - how about, if the same post gets reported more than (say) 3 times, it automatically get moderated causing it to require something more serious to be done with it?
It would of course be admin configurable ;)
Thoughts?

Welcome :)
See also http://wedge.org/pub/faq/6388/faq-why-isn-t-wedge-org-running-wedge/ Of course, you can see how well the original estimate turned out - but estimations of timelines tend to involve fictional numbers and theoretical maths that don't really apply to reality... ;)

Anyway, back on topic for a moment. There is now at least one area that specifically requires JavaScript in the ACP (moderation filters)
Should there be a nice warning at the top, obviously hidden for JS users, indicating that things may not work properly or at all in the ACP for non JS users?

In fact, let me share. First picture is where you'll find it in the ACP (second from the right), second picture is the settings page itself as of right now.
