Plugins / [Plugin] Re: Notifications system (1.0)

Lemme dig it out, I'm sure I can convert it to use the regular notifications system without too much trouble.

Heh, well it is interesting in itself and there are times and ways it will be useful but I think those are rather few and far between :(

The post above mine about using TinyCon - I did most of a plugin to put the number of unread PMs into the favicon but for some reason I never finished it.

Yes, because increasing server load by a factor of 100 (for stuff that could be updated semi frequently) could be a good thing.

It has uses (and it's old news), but it doesn't really apply to us much.

You know I wrote half a plugin for this very thing, right?

I dunno, I'm just saying that here, on this site, today, I was getting the above.

Archived fixes / Flexbox bug

From a PM. I have clearly hidden who sent it and the content because none of that is relevant. The first code snippet has issues with the horizontal scrollbar, the second forces the entire post to have a scrollbar.

Also note the poster width is different too. Chrome 26, btw.

* Arantor thinks flexbox is buggy :(

Plugins / Re: Hook parameters...

The PHP team.

The SMF team implemented a solution likely unaware of what was going on. Back in 2010 when they made this, the changes to PHP hadn't been announced at that point.

Anyway -- now we now what to expect: if we want to give a hook the ability to modify a variable, we have to add the ampersand. Otherwise, call_hook will make only provide a copy of it. Good to know for future hooks, eh..?
That's very good, it means we can be selective about what we expose.

Huh, I was convinced that we didn't have to use & if the receiver did so. Learn something every day.

@Dragooon, yes, that makes sense but it seems illogical to pass an array of references as a copy.

I can't help but wonder why they've done this.

I need to figure out how plugins and email templates in general should work ;)

The mailer for PMs is separate to loadEmailTemplate, and you can pass a language to it specifically for it to load if you so wish.

However if you have big batches to run, you would be strongly advised to batch them by language wherever possible.

What version of PHP are you testing this with?

I never said it wasn't paid... but it is cheaper than Github. I have several more than 5 private repos for my $6 a month.
