Yes I get it the hint also, but getting this stuff to work with SMF is a bit of work all in it's self, and to get them to work in all browsers is another matter, then replace the code and images, I find in most cases a virtual complete rewrite of the CSS file and even some of the template stuff at times. You all have you tools as well lol!
But mine you not find so easy. or at least I hope not LOL! :)
I work with about 5 to 8 programs to get to some of stuff I want or like, would be nice if they had one to do it all.
When I first started working the Net, I had to pay allot for the basic editors, and teach myself line by line the HTML stuff, and was very hard, because at the time I did not see myself even touching a computer or keyboard. There was not much help, like today and many would charge allot to show you enough to get you in trouble. I even had to Buy a Browser Netscape Nav, that had some what of a WYSIWYG editor and even in those days IE was not forgiving at all in code from these Applications.
In short I had to learn the hard way and now that I'm old, I use what available to me and share with others most of it!
Not move back >> always:) with the technologies haha!

Not new to this stuff my friend!
No disrespect intended here.. I have been admin many Corp. sites, and always treated my members with the respect respect deserve, even if they are wrong or out of place, just a thought@
However, if I have something to share with others about what I know, in regard to the Computers and the Net and what can happen when you let them in the your unit, I will do so, because this is what I've been doing the 1994 until now, if you don't like what I have to share do not pay me no mind, I help people daily with there issues. And again beware of the social sites, downloads and such and FB is among those like it or not! (API, Active X, Java, freeware or whatever) I don't let them in but some do and they need to be aware!
Windowz Messaging system is being stripped they say, and taken away as we speak, and members are being advised to use Skype and that infects many user's as well, and I know this first hand. So tell me what is wrong with this plan?
Now if this was a private conversation in the Off topic, then I am truly sorry!

Thanks,
Just trying out various layouts, most can be tweaked though, have about 10 more I'm working on that are way cleaner looks and simpler at the same time.
But for me getting ride of those standard images is a good thing, and working with the CSS is a fun thing!
The header is layered images, but can be changed to a small image if I want, just check the colors there!
I see also that it's too busy though!

Using Aeva on my sites (SMF) it works great using embed iframe tags and well as just applying the url to U tube, I've seen WP sites that have the Video as a Thumb type nail, and they are nice to have I guess but not really need unless you have many videos posted, but then you talking possible load time and band width issues. not everyone has Hi speed Internet, some wireless and other types, still being used. I really don't trust frames on most site though!
the way my site is set u on the Front page, I have the most current video that comes up normal, at the top and link bars, jute box like formations with page numbers, where one can click on the song or music video they desire, loads real fast and does the job, I sure there many ways , but this just one thought!

For me I have Repaired and Custom Built PCs for many, One Note I'd express, it that most all Computers I repair have way too many pops up, or start-ups applications (social net stuff) that it takes for ever, just to get to the problems all these things have infected the Unit with... I've had occassion when I have to spend 2 days cleaning out Bugs and junk for the PC before I could even determine if the unit it's self has issues... Too many use the PC as a Toy, rather than a Tool! I know many come from Email, but found way more from the social sites! and So called Free software offers.
That being said, People love to play so if you are one of those your going to pay to play, in most cases!
I have many tips and application you use to help prevent this stuff and wasting Money on the damage done. If anyone is interest feel free to let me know. And One big Hint is, that a few of the paid, highly used and Big Boy applications out there cause more bad than good. One reason is everyone is out to crack them. and It take more than one application and or tools to do the trick, and them you should have back u weapons if you will to kill the bugs LOL!
And remember always, "I am always watching you, watching me, watching you"

As with you guys, I'm working daily to get away from the SOS looks of the SMF site, or at least it would appear this is the case... anyway
I've been for along time now been eliminating the images required by the SMF system, replacing them with very small images of my own and at times at only 1 or so pixels in width and using heavy CSS/3 code.
Now I know you guys have your own agenda, here on what to use but for the sake of the visitors and members here is just one example of what can be done to break out from the ordinary! hope you like it.

Maxx

Meet the Internet Posting Removal Act, an Illinois Bill That’ll Make Your Head Spin By Josh Wolford
http://www.webpronews.com/meet-the-internet-posting-removal-act-an-illinois-bill-thatll-make-your-head-spin-2013-02
State lawmakers all across the country busy at work crafting ridiculous, head-spinning laws can take the day off. There is no way they can top this.
A new bill proposed in the Illinois State Senate looks to completely wipe out any form of anonymity on the internet by requiring that the operators of basically any website on the entire internet take down any comment that isn’t attached to an IP, address, and real name-verified poster.
It’s called the Internet Posting Removal Act and was introduced on February 13th by Illinois General Assembly veteran Ira I. Silverstein [D].
What do you think about anonymity of the internet? What circumstances (if any) should an internet commenter be forced to divulge their real identity? Let us know in the comments.
Here’s the summary of the bill:
<blockquote>Creates the Internet Posting Removal Act. Provides that a web site administrator shall, upon request, remove any posted comments posted by an anonymous poster unless the anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post and confirms that his or her IP address, legal name, and home address are accurate. Effective 90 days after becoming law.</blockquote> Not wanting to leave any bases uncovered, Silverstein includes that an “Anonymous Poster” means “any individual who posts a message on a web site including social networks, blogs, forums, message boards, or any other discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages.”
Silverstein also proposes that “all web site administrators shall have a contact number or e-mail address posted for such removal requests clearly visible in any sections where comments are posted.”
Beyond the obvious questions about self-verification of IP addresses (?) and home addresses (wow), the logistics of this thing are mind-boggling at best. Any comment on any site that has commenting? That would not just include sites like CNN.com, Mashable, WebProNews and others. This could be taken to mean any type of social media like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or large online communities like reddit and 4chan.
And what about the constitutionality angle?
The Electronic Frontier Foundation notes that “anonymous communications have an important place in our political and social discourse,” and that this is an idea that’s been upheld by the Supreme Court. They cite a particular decision (McIntyre v. Ohio Elections Commission, 1995):
<blockquote>Protections for anonymous speech are vital to democratic discourse. Allowing dissenters to shield their identities frees them to express critical minority views…Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority…It thus exemplifies the purpose behind the Bill of Rights and of the First Amendment in particular: to protect unpopular individuals from retaliation…at the hand of an intolerant society. </blockquote> “These long-standing rights to anonymity and the protections it affords are critically important for the Internet. As the Supreme Court has recognized the Internet offers a new and powerful democratic forum in which anyone can become a “pamphleteer” or “a town crier with a voice that resonates farther than it could from any soapbox,” says the EFF.
Of course, this isn’t the first legislative attempt to limit anonymous speech on the internet. Back in 2012, a nearly identical bill was proposed in the New York State Assembly that would’ve required site admins to restrict any comments that didn’t have “IP address, legal name, and home address” attached to the post.
Like many bills that limit free and anonymous speech, this NY bill was hidden behind a hot-button issue. In its case, cyberbullying.
“It’s an effort to deal with the problem. I’m hopeful that this will be helpful in combating that,” Sponsor Thomas O’Mara explained, “or at least get a dialog going with the industry about this concern.”
But is punishing anonymity the right course of action?
When people who have no idea how the internet actually works start drafting laws, this is what happens. This isn’t the first, nor the last bill of this type that will hit state legislatures. More than likely, this bill will never make it out of committee (it’s been referred to assignments). But the simple knowledge that this kind of thing could even exist is enough to make me want a drink.
Hope this OK to post!

I'd also like to add that, many of us still like and use the SMF system and I myself am working on themes ideas for the 2,0.4 and the 2.1 Alpha, and also working on the idea of producing Themes that will work on WordPress and other CMS projects as well.
Please, they will not at all be the same coding, but the idea is to match them, so you can have 2, communities with the same looks and feel, If all goes well.
But the point is many are still working and counting on the success of the SMF system, But have no clue where it is headed!
never the less we keep working on the stuff, and let other know what we up to!

Maxx

I guess that about covers it, I never had reason to believe you ever wished ill will on or to SMF, Always thought you were trying to keep it moving along, But I have no Idea what goes on over there, except the little I read. But I think when anyone wants something to be better than it is or faster than it moving, It seems always that it's, miss understood the intentions of that person or people. I also feel there may be a break down communications, somewhere. or even miss information.
Just because we see differently does not mean, we are disagreeing, or disliking! We just look at it from another angle!
One thing for certain is here it just you guys and the other stuff is secondary!

I am new here but not to SMF and portals and themes, been with Smf test from version 1.1.1 till now and have my off line or localhost ( PC) to test and will only test on live site if asked to do so, have look in and out on the project for a while now, but just join, because of the help and guidance I have gotten from Arantor on the SMF alpha testing... I have much to learn, but of course this is all up to you! Mostly into Theme customizing, but with this comes allot of system testing as you all know!
