That's a lot to process after a long day troubleshooting crap code, I'll read it again tomorrow when I'm more awake.

Off course if this is already a feature then ignore this request, as I can't see to test it ;)

Features / Post Deletion
« on May 2nd, 2013, 01:16 AM »
Just got thinking there (inspired by some recent conversations), can the way way post deletion works be changed, this is mainly to keep continuity of topics/conversations.
For example say there is 20 posts in a topic and the 5th post is questionable and there are 3 posts after it that reply directly to the questionable content and bring the topic off the original topic. You go and 'delete' (flag change on the post in the database) the 4 questionable posts but what actually happens that they can still be seen in the context of the topic by only mods & admins for continuity reasons and a comment can be added by whoever 'deleted' the posts so other mods & admins can see why they were deleted.
Then there is then a page (bin) or whatever you want to call it, were you can purge 'deleted' posts and this purge will permanently delete the selected posts from the database?

Off-topic / Re: Installing free cpanel in Amazon Cloud Hosting
« on May 1st, 2013, 11:01 AM »
@wanchope, a quick Google of your root question will give you your answer.
Officially cPanel does not support NAT based networks, which is how EC2 is designed. Plesk has been known to work but I'm not sure if it is officially supported either.
There is a work around to get cPanel working on EC2 but you can Google that yourself ;)

A much better example which seems to be staying and not disappearing on a page refresh.
I posted a reply to this topic(http://wedge.org/pub/bugs/8076/thoughts-bug/msg288244/#new) and then went in and modified it straight away to change a spelling mistake and saved it. Once I came out to the Wedge homepage my reply is marked as 'New' even though it's mine. It seems to be staying even with a page refresh so I'm not going to click into it so it can stay as it is so it can be investigated.

I would say try keep base functionality consistent across all site features unless specific features call for specifically for different logic/process.

I don't mean for full admin/moderate functionality but full 'normal' user functionality should be available and it possible kept as similar as the standard theme. I agree that admin functionality shouldn't be fully available on mobile but maybe basic moderate tasks should to remove or flag something until you get to your pc to deal with it etc.

From my experience it's what the customer wantsand the users expect.
Out of the many projects i've worked on 99% of the time the client has said the mobile version should have most if not ll publicaly available functionality.
And in uat the users have expected said public functonality.

Another anomaly. :)
I just came to wedge.org a minute ago and there were no unread topics/post, when I scrolled down to the boards, the image to the left of the 'The Pub' board was highlights as there was an unread post, I clicked on it and there were no posts unread. I went back to the home page, scrolled down and refreshed the page and the icon change to the correct image where there are no unread posts.

I disagree, they majority of mobile devices can handle much more data and bandwidth and 4G rolling out on most networks this year it will only get better.
You should have the same if not most functionality on your mobile these days.
If you're talking about some of the countries lagging behind in mobile speeds i would suggst another bare theme for 'slow wireless'.

'Thoughts' allow blank entries to be submitted, could open up it up for spam users or users looking to piss off other forum users. Also it's not the norm for an input to take a blank entry unless explicitly told too.
