The Pub / Re: What about the blog module?
« on April 11th, 2011, 10:00 AM »
Thank you Arantor and Nao for the answers. :)

By the way: I like this way. In fact it is similar in implementation as other things I'm doing on my site.

So I imagine that in "create board" there will be something like a "multi type" thing, where only certain groups will appear in board index?

The Pub / What about the blog module?
« on April 10th, 2011, 04:35 PM »
Hello! :)

I'm planning to implement a blog system on my forum. So, as I'll move to wedge as soon as it is ready, I wanted to know if there is a system that uses the same DB tables / structure and - if that is not the case - how has the tables to be build in order to maintain the compatibility with wedge.

Thank you! :)

You have to see Class-CSS to believe it, BTW... It's one of the best pieces of code I ever wrote. Eheh. Okay, ego, sit down now!
AAARGH!!!

You can not increse my amount of frustration by writing these things!

Welcome to the world of "feature hot", as opposed to feature frozen :eheh:
I'm going to love it, I know! :D

Because of the rewrite, it means you can't import your theme CSS "like that". You'll have to rewrite it entirely (or, at best, to do a long series of automatic search & replace sessions, which I myself did to rewrite the SMF css files.)
Not a problem: I'm planning to write my themes "from scratch".

Hopefully I'll be able to write said docs just by going through Class-CSS.php once it's 100% stable :P

Sound's great.  :eheh:

No, there isn't. Kind of hard to document something that is a moving target and being modified regularly as it evolves...
That's right, I've not consider that. :)

There are quite a few differences, and likely there will be more as time goes on.
Ok... I'll wait until I become a "wedge friend" :eheh:

Ok, we can't have a look at wedge at the moment.... But... Is there some document to read / study? Just to be ready - I can't stay there and wait without doing nothing! :yahoo:

Another question: are there many differences between the core smf db tables and the wedge one? I mean - I know that wedge has many feature smf haven't - but I guess if the "forum stuff" tables structure are the same. :)

Like, $smcFunc. What does SMC mean? Most people don't know. (And I don't even remember, myself.)
$wedgeFunc is too long and $weFunc may sound like "we fuck", so... $wf?
Might as well use $cx and $wf. And then document the change somewhere.
Why not $wtf?

Welcome everyone. :)

Feel free to share your feelings about the project!
Well, let me tell that I've first read about that project maybe... 1 week ago? On my forum I wanted to change the coppermine gallery, bridged with smf... So I've finally read all about aeva media on smf forum and... off course, I read about bad things happened with smf staff and about the fork.

My first thought was "what? a fork? isn't maybe too much source code to manage for only 2 people?"

But after that I've read your source code (aeva gallery) - and than I've read that the other guy is Arantor (the guy which had answered to all my questions about modding smf on the smf community forum... :D). And so my second thought was "ok, they are the RIGHT 2 guys for a fork ;)".

Anyway, I've read about your guidelines and I've to say that I have similar feelings about what should be the direction to follow. So I really appreciate the work you are doing and... I'll be happy to help in some way, if possible. :)
