Features / Custom fieldsets in new topic
« on May 1st, 2011, 05:00 PM »
Hi! :)
Let me explain what I mean...
I'm using posts with defined "structure" of content (here an example of such a post), that let me with a simple query select all first messages of this board to parse data and use in other ways (so, I'm using posts like database tables in fact).
Here is the result: http://home.artistimarziali.org/?page=scuole
So, I'm thinking that it can be a great idea to define some kind of "board template" (with the post strucure prepared: now the users have to do a copy & paste) or better the possibility to define, for topic start, not the classic input form with the textarea, but a form with customizable fieldsets, that will write the post in the correct manner.
I'm thinking to write a mod to do that on smf - what do you think about? I think that this system will be useful in many ways.... Like maybe support boards (to force users to compile certain fields for example).
I don't know if this can be a default feature for the wedge core, but I'm sure it can be a useful mod. :)

The like/dislike feature, combined with the simple total for each user, works better (that's because you can view who voted for a post).

You know... FB also had modified their api in the past. :hmm:

The concept is not only to like / dislike, but there's a user total count (reputation) and the possibility to automatic hide posts that totalize a certain negative amount of votes.

I can't see any particular license in the files of this mod. Should I contact outoforder in order to ask him if I can port it to wedge (when ready), or better not?
(yes, I want to be ready to start asap moving my forum, when wedge is public :yahoo: ... And this is the only mod I miss, at the moment).

Thanks! :)
Another question: do you know the "good post bad post mod"? Is maybe the author part of the wedge community too?

Ok, now the situation (on my forum) requires me to write a mod for smf. What do I haveto do? Wait a little and start modding wedge or start on smf and then port it to wedge? :)

The Pub / Re: A question......
« on April 26th, 2011, 03:35 PM »That's the thing. It needs to be done slowly because overnight it would easily be noticed and would instantly cause an uproar. So far, my count is down to 42k and no-one seems to have noticed yet.
My script deletes post one by one: it took 38hrs to delete my 7000 posts on the target forum.
It depends on the machine where you run the script (I started it on a shared hosting) and on the machine that runs the forum (in my case also a shared hosting).
I think that on smf it will take less time. :)
But the code can be tuned and calibrated! ;)
