Hmmm one thing that would be nice is if it was possible to "like" a post without incrementing the users "reputation" or cumulative "likes". This might prevent some likewhoring while making it possible to "like" a helpful post .

I really like the general idea of the WeDGE one. :)

Note: Fair use is not legislation for 96% of the world, even though similar laws are in place in a lot of places.

« on September 13th, 2011, 02:04 PM »I deliberately started out by going to one of their paid plans up front, because I wanted to manage through my domain ($34.95/yr) and that still ends up cheaper than my old hosting account.
PROTIP: Aliases are godlike for making temporary e-mail addresses. Great for shady deals (as in, signups and people you don't trust to handle your address with care).

But it is totally good with Opera at the helm too.

Yeeeah... Maybe not. :P
But I will of course report anything I -do- find.
At some points it feels like it would be a good idea to wipe everything, then you remember that it is indeed a very bad idea to wipe everything.
This specific board has gone from SMF to IPB to SMF to MyBB. Now back to SMF and then Wedge? It'll be an interesting game of "telephone"

The irony is that I was actually trying to do it the "right" way.
I'd have said module if I was choosing what to say.

I know that feel. It's my main problem when switching to Wedge actually (something I anticipate definitely doing with my forum after a while.) Converting from MyBB to SMF and then to Wedge... One can pray but my gut feeling tells me that operation will fuck up more than a few things.
Then again, being hopeful never hurt. ^^

I do sort of see it becoming a thing on more professional ones too, I guess. Like, if a post is super-insightful or helpful, it could be interesting to see it in some sort of list in the sidebar or another prominent place on the page.
Sorry. I'm just thinking out loud here, not trying to get you to implement things. This could be a pretty kickass plugin though...

That said, you don't really need to migrate the current ones to the new one, seeing as they are fairly "short-lived" ideas.

I don't need it at least. Simple likes are enough to make my whole site "troll around" (up me and i'll up you, why can't I get free likes, etc).
That said some sites probably want them and I think it does fit in a forum core*. :)
*Like / Dislike, not "like the like"
